Join the Etobicoke Master Gardeners (EMG) at the Humber Arboretum to learn how to handle the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that come from gardening in the city. Topics such as pollution, soil compaction, and wildlife in the garden will be discussed.
This free workshop is part of the Eco-Garden Community Workshop series hosted by the Etobicoke Master Gardeners and Humber Arboretum throughout the year. The event is open to anyone but space is limited - please register in advance at humberarb.eventbrite.ca
The Humber Arboretum is located at the back of North Campus. The Centre for Urban Ecology is the building at the top of the path with the red door.
Edris Wafi of North York won a 2017 Honda Civic from the North Campus Tim Hortons during this year’s Roll Up the Rim to Win campaign.
Tim Hortons will be presenting the key at a short ceremony at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5th outside E building (in front of Tim Hortons).
Join us for the closing reception for howTo.write(poetry). The exhibition brings together two artworks by Mitchell F. Chan and Michelle Gay that deeply engage with historical texts. Each artist communes with another author’s writing through a computational translation of the original, creating a conversation across time, language, and media.
The evening will include an artist talk with Mitchell F. Chan and Michelle Gay, moderated by curator Farah Yusuf.
The talk will start at 6 p.m.
Light refreshments will be served.
Exhibition dates: April 11 - May 5, 2017
Monday - Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Artist Bios:
Mitchell F. Chan is a new media artist and educator based in Toronto. His artistic practice employs overly elaborate techniques to explore the futility of perception and communication. His works have been exhibited in galleries and festivals across North America. He is also co-founder and principal partner of public art and design firm Studio F Minus, working in architectural scale technological installations. He is represented in Toronto by Angell Gallery (angellgallery.com) and can be found online at mitchellfchan.com.
Michelle Gay studied art and art history at the University of Toronto and received her MFA from NSCAD (Halifax, Nova Scotia). Her work often experiments with the ubiquitous desktop PC, as a site of intimate virtual or digital experiences – teasing out resonant connections between machines and bodies and between digital and actual spaces. She often collaborates with her brother and particle physicist Colin Gay on these “artware” projects. Interested in the possibilities of touch and poetics within new media platforms, they develop artware designed to play with technologies in non-useful ways. She is represented in Toronto by the Birch | Libralato Gallery (birchlibralato.com) and can be found online at michellegay.com.
