Humber’s Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee presents:
Fostering a Trans Inclusive Environment
Lunch and Learn

Registration – humber.ca/lgbtq/register
Space is limited to 30 participants – please register today!

Individuals who identify as trans* often experience discrimination and harassment based on their gender identity or gender expression. This can present them with significant barriers to accessing essential resources and services. This practical, interactive session will explore the experiences and challenges faced by trans people and will help you develop effect approaches for fostering a trans inclusive environment. Participants will also learn what steps they can take within their personal and professional lives to create more inclusive spaces and services for trans individuals.

The session will be facilitated by The 519 Church Street Community Centre. The Centre provides education and training programs that meet the needs of the local and broader LGBTQ communities. The 519 Hear It! Stop It! #nobystanders Inclusion Campaign and Education Curriculum challenges homophobic and transphobic language and provides organizations, LGBTQ community members and their allies with the resources to foster safe, welcoming and inclusive environments.

*Transgender (or trans) is an umbrella term for people whose gender identity differs from what is typically associated with the sex they were assigned at birth.

Light refreshments will be served

Sponsored by the Centre for Teaching and Learning

Research ROI: Evaluation and Insights
In any economic climate, companies and organizations are interested in maximizing results gained from research studies. With the advent of Big Data, automatic data generation, mobile, “in the moment”, and “DIY” research, what key benefits can research analysts offer organizations and businesses? Research analysts can offer optimization of research findings through effective storytelling and rigorous evaluation resulting in actionable insights. Moving away from the mere presentation or descriptive use of data, organizations are looking for research results to have an impact on the bottom line, to justify the use of public monies, and to make research findings accessible to a wider audience.

Research ROI: Evaluation and Insights
The Humber RAPP Research Forum will allow industry experts, students and other interested parties to explore Research’s Return on Investment opportunities in our current climate.

Through student presentations, industry speakers and open discussions, we will address the importance of students developing research skills that include not only describing but also translating and prescribing future action. Through the development of these skills, new career vistas become open to students and value is added to public and private organizations and stakeholders.
