In this session, the participant will:
Build awareness of Indigenous history and worldviews

This will help to foster community at Humber and ensure we have a welcoming and respectful place for all Aboriginal peoples.

Facilitator Banakonda Bell has developed a solid reputation for teaching and facilitating strategic approaches to working with and understanding the cultural protocols and distinctive worldview of Aboriginal people and educators. She has built successful healing programs and Aboriginal sensitivity training locally for First Nations Technical Institute (FNTI), Nipissing First Nation, Ryerson University and internationally in Akwesasne, New York, and Indigenous communities in Chile, South America.

Note: This is a 3-hour workshop, offered twice on the same day. Please choose either AM or PM session.

Spend your lunch hour with Humber Music and one of Canada’s finest vocalists and pianists!

Carol Welsman is an internationally acclaimed singer and pianist whose expressive vocal styling and dynamic stage presence have captivated audiences around the world. She has sold over 60,000 CDs in Canada alone.

Carol's concert is part of Humber Music's ongoing free public concert series, held in the Lakeshore Auditorium at 12:15 pm most Wednesdays from September to April.

The Humber Writing Centre Fall 2014 Book Club Event invites all students, faculty, staff, and admin from the Humber and Guelph-Humber community to join us in Room GH 202 at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 19, to celebrate the novel Moving Forward Sideways Like a Crab by Shani Mootoo. The author will be present via Skype for the event. Refreshments will be served.

The Humber Goes Global event will provide an opportunit0y for Humber's community to learn about various countries and their unique characteristics (e.g., the food, traditional clothing, language, music). Japan, Italy, Barbados, New Zealand, and Nigeria will be featured at booths, and performers will share music from Barbados and Italy. In addition, students who have lived in/travelled to these countries will share their first-hand experiences.
