Where:
North Campus, Seventh Semester (Room KB111) Social bonds are fundamental to the survival of human beings. But in the process of developing relationships, individuals commit transgressions that hurt others and jeopardize these bonds. Fortunately, both victims and transgressors have developed a number of responses that can assist in the reconciliation process. In this lecture, Dr. Ward Struthers will argue that the extent to which victims choose to seek revenge, harbour grudges or forgive is a function of victims’ social power over transgressors. He will also show how this relation is moderated by apologies, providing a deeper understanding of the nuance involved in reconciliation.
