Proceeds from the sale of all lunch menu items on November 29, 2013, will be donated to a Philippines disaster relief fund. A special 3-course menu has been prepared by Chef Francisco Rivera, and features Filipino dishes.

 

APPETIZER $5
SHRIMP REBOSADO WITH LUMPIANG UBOD
Battered tiger shrimp, with sweet and sour sauce,
served with a vegetarian spring roll.


MAIN $12
CHICKEN CALDERETA
Chicken stew with diced potato, carrots, peas, and olives,
in tomato sauce served with steamed jasmine rice.
OR
BISTEK
Thinly sliced beef, marinated in soya sauce and citrus, sautéed with fresh onion rings,
served with bok choy and steamed jasmine rice.

In this workshop, the importance of preparation by completing a needs analysis and creating learning outcomes will be explored. The participants will examine suggested elements in a lesson plan as well as an effective lesson plan template. The plan will identify what you will teach, how you will deliver the material, and how the outcomes are measured.

This session will enable participants to design and implement an effective lesson plan to meet the diverse needs of learners.

Keynote Speaker: Banakonda Bell
Professor, Ryerson University, SSW Program
Traditional Teacher, Healer

Banakonda has developed a solid reputation for teaching and facilitating strategic approaches to working with and understanding the cultural protocols and distinctive worldview of Aboriginal people and educators. She has built successful healing programs and Aboriginal sensitivity training locally for First Nations Technical Institute (FNTI), Nipis-sing First Nation, Ryerson University and internationally in Akwesasne, New York, and Indigenous communities in Chile, South America.

Training Objective:

Build employee awareness of Indigenous history and worldviews, in order to foster community at Humber and ensure we have a welcoming and respectful place for all Aboriginal peoples.

Writing a test or exam requires skill and technique! In this helpful workshop, students will discuss their current approach to writing exams and what they want to improve. Looking at different types of tests (multiple choice, short answer and essay format) and identifying strategies for each of them is an important skill students can gain.
