Humber continues to improve the Blackboard Learn environment and we are proud to announce that we have added both a new Date Management Tool and an Achievements Tool. The Date Management tool allows instructors to adjust availability dates, due dates as well as adaptive release dates in a course from one convenient location, while the Achievements Tool enables instructors to issue rewards to students in the form of badges and certificates.

Workshops on these new tools to be offered in December 2013 and in winter 2014.

Time is the universal constraint. In this course we explore skills in self-discipline, time management, personal organization and planning.

Each participant conducts a self assessment of 12 potential time wasters to determine how effectively they are in dealing with each. Once weaknesses are identified, we will look at the organizational and motivational techniques available to overcome these problems. Personal effectiveness and time management are examined in depth, in order to manage time and resources and ensure that work is completed efficiently. Participants will develop action plans that focus on those areas which require improvement. This session will end at 4 p.m.

Education in the 21st century is changing and has changed. We are moving from teacher-centered to learner-centered modes and andragogical techniques. We are experiencing a movement from: face-to-face to digital engagement, synchronous to asynchronous, individual to peer-to-peer learning. Technology has increased access and can enhance the learning experience.

As we build our teaching and learning capabilities in these areas, we also need to re-build and revision our current and future learning spaces. This is an opportunity to talk about the classroom of the future.

Please be part of the re-visioning of our physical classroom space. Bring your creativity to these town hall meetings and contribute your ideas to the future design of classroom spaces at Humber College.
