Meet other LGBTQ+ students ● Supportive and Confidential ● For students who are questioning their gender and sexuality, and students who are “out” ● Led by LGBTQ indentified facilitators

LGBTQ+ @ Humber

LGBTQ+@ Humber is a discussion and social group for students who are "out" and who may be questioning their gender and sexual orientation. The group runs for 11 weeks at both the North and Lakeshore Campus locations, and begins January 22nd. Students do not need to sign up in advance, and can show up to as many or few sessions as they like. The group offers a confidential and supportive environment to meet other LGBTQ+ students, and is led by LGBTQ identified facilitators.

  • March 26 - Alcohol, drugs, and the queer community
  • April 2 - Being queer in our families
  • April 9 - Pre-pride celebration

LGBTQ+ @ Humber works from an anti-oppression framework. We recognize that LGBTQ+ students face systemic oppression on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, body size, class, ability, immigration status, country of origin, culture, age and religion. We are committed to creating an environment that celebrates diversity, and challenges all forms of oppression.

At Humber we view new employee orientation as an important process that helps you become a successful member of our community. Join us and explore Humber, discovering resources that are available to you and critical information such as benefits, performance appraisals, professional development opportunities and union representation.

This session will help you identify how your role contributes to Humber achieving its vision, mission and objectives, explain the current status of Humber’s business plan and describe what the future holds for post-secondary education and how the changes will affect
Humber. You will have an opportunity to socialize with other new employees over lunch.

Your orientation will conclude with a tour of North Campus if requested, and the session ends at 1 p.m.

The Teaching Effectiveness Certificate program is designed for those interested in the field of teaching or private sector training. The courses within this certificate program provide participants with an opportunity to explore best practices in teaching and learning and apply the skills learned in a safe environment with other classmates. The certificate is comprised of five individual courses that are designed to develop essential teaching competencies. Upon successful completion of the five courses, participants receive a Certificate of Completion.

It's that time of the term again! The Humber College Writing Centre would like to invite you to the Winter 2014 Book Club!

We are reading Elisabeth de Mariaffi's short story collection, "How To Get Along With Women", and Elisabeth de Mariaffi herself will be joining us LIVE via Skype.

Synopsis: "How to Get Along With Women" features diverse voices searching for identity, power and sexuality. This debut short story collection illuminates the lies we tell ourselves, and the moments in which we see ourselves for who we are.

Faculty, staff, and students are all encouraged to be a part of this wonderful event. Refreshments will be served.

Copies of the book will be available in the Humber Bookstore.
