BLOOD & ROSES
NOVEMBER 9 – 11 HUMBER STUDIO THEATRE

Toronto, Ontario: Humber Theatre is pleased to announce the first show of the 2012/2013 season, Blood & Roses which will open at the Humber Studio Theatre on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Directed by Diana Belshaw and featuring the graduating students of the Theatre Performance Program, with design and technical support from students of the Theatre Production Program, this performance is homage to the theatre and music of the 1930s.

This mini musical follows a group of theatre and film performers as they journey through optimism and despair during one of the most iconic eras in entertainment history.

Director Diana Belshaw has worked for over thirty years as an actor, director, educator and arts administrator, appearing at most of the major theatres in Canada. Musical Director John Millard has been active in the Canadian music and theatre scenes for the last twenty years. John is currently an artist in residence at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts. Choreographer Viv Moore has worked collaboratively and as a solo artist as a dancer, actor, choreographer and teacher for 30 years, in dance, theatre, film and video. Set and Lighting Designer Steve Lucas has designed the world premieres of hundreds of shows, including 2 Pianos 4 Hands, Never Swim Alone, and The Drawer Boy. Costume Designer Maya Ishiura has created work in Toronto, London and New York. She has taught design at NYU and the University of London.

Humber Theatre has a reputation for fostering the development and creation of new work and of young artists. Blood & Roses continues that tradition in a new way.
