Access, a Microsoft database product, is a powerful piece of software that allows participants to organize, track, manipulate and share data. Although not a tool commonly used at Humber, there are a growing number of faculty and staff who are becoming more and more interested in producing meaningful and powerful databases. During this workshop, participants will learn some of the basic principles and common tools used in Access.

At the end of each semester, all 47 of our student ensembles give a 20 minute mini-concert, after which they receive a critique, and adjudication. It is a rare opportunity to get a sense of what the Music Program is about, and to experience a wide variety of genres.....these kids are the next wave of Canadian music stars!

“Sometimes things seem to explode in the classroom, and what do we do then? Knowing strategies for turning difficult encounters into learning opportunities enables us to address important, but hot, topics such as- religion, politics, race, class, gender-in our classroom discussions.”

- Lee Warren, Derek Bok Center

The ‘Managing Difficult Classroom Moments’ workshop creates an opportunity for faculty members to develop concrete skills and strategies in order to effectively manage difficult classroom moments.

Objectives of the workshop:

Increase awareness that difficult classroom moments are normal and frequent occurrences in healthy learning environments;

Provide opportunities to engage in critical self-reflection that may assist understanding of responses to difficult classroom moments; and

Present strategies and tools to more effectively intervene in difficult classroom moments.

Time: 9 a.m.  – 12 noon

Light lunch will be served at midday

Space is limited. To register for the workshop please email Jodie Glean.
