Humber College will be Moving to 100% Recycled Paper

We are excited to share that Humber College will be moving to 100% Post-Consumer Waste (PCW) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper! In addition to these global standards, the paper we have chosen is ECOLOGO certified, manufactured using Biogas Energy and chlorine-free.

All paper used at Humber will now be made from 100% recycled fibre and has met the FSC's rigorous social and environmental standards. As a result, we will reduce around 54 tonnes of Co2e, which is equivalent to planting 700 trees annually.

Humber has implemented many other initiatives to reduce the use of paper on campus, including DocuSign. Working from home has also significantly contributed to the reduction in paper use.

While some paper use will come back as more folks return to campus, we anticipate that it will likely never be as much as it was due to the tools and practices we have learned these past few years.

With your support, changing to FSC 100% recycled paper and reducing the total amount of paper used will minimize the negative social and environmental impacts that the paper industry has on equity-deserving global communities and our environment.

Using 100% FSC recycled paper is one of the goals in Humber's Sustainability Action Plan. Now more than ever, please consider whether you need to print.
