In an effort to accelerate this project, the start date for phase two has been advanced. Preliminary work for the intersection closure has started.at the intersection of Kipling Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard West. A full intersection closure at Kipling Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard West will now take place from Monday, July 25 until Monday, August 1.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT COVID-19 AND CONSTRUCTION WORK IN TORONTO

During construction, the contractor is responsible for the Health & Safety on site under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and is expected to implement COVID-19 mitigation practices. For more information on the City's response to COVID-19 please visit toronto.ca/covid-19.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION

Work Hours: Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays or Sundays as required. There will be periods of 24 hour operation during new TTC rail installation.

Traffic Management: Efforts have been made to manage traffic in the area for the safety of workers, road users and residents. Road users should expect delays and increased traffic on nearby main and side streets. During the intersection closure:

Eastbound travel:

  • One lane for eastbound traffic will be maintained on Lake Shore Boulevard

West Westbound travel:

  • Westbound lanes on Lake Shore Boulevard West will be open up to Sixteenth Street
  • A partial closure for westbound traffic will be required just west of Sixteenth Street on Lake Shore Boulevard West
  • The Contractor will maintain one westbound lane for local traffic and for access to Seventeenth Street
  • NO westbound traffic will be permitted beyond Seventeenth Street and a full road closure will be maintained between Seventeenth Street and Kipling Avenue
  • All westbound lanes at Nineteenth Street will remain open at all times

Southbound travel:

  • Kipling Avenue will be closed to southbound traffic at Birmingham Street with the exception of local traffic until road resurfacing begins

Northbound travel:

  • There will be NO right turns (northbound) onto Kipling Avenue from Lake Shore Boulevard West

The intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Kipling Avenue will be reopened to traffic when Phase 2 work is complete.

Road and Sidewalk Access: In order to complete the work in a safe manner, there will be road and sidewalk restrictions within the work zone. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Driveway Access: The contractor will notify you of any temporary restrictions to your driveway access. Both laneways on Kipling Avenue just north of Lake Shore Boulevard West will be closed during Phase 2.

Parking: Parking in the active work zone is not permitted as space is needed for construction equipment and materials. If your parked vehicle affects construction work, it will be relocated with no charge to the owner. If your vehicle is moved, please contact parking control for its location at 416-808-2222. Affected properties will get additional parking information. There will be NO PARKING on Wellington Street East during construction. There will be times when on street parking on Front Street East near Market Street will be restricted due to ongoing construction activities.
Accessible Accommodation: The City's contractor must ensure safe and accessible walkways and entryways are maintained for everyone during construction. Any temporary access disruptions will be communicated as soon as possible. If you experience a disruption, have a specific access need or related accommodation request, please contact us at the information below.
Garbage and Recycling: Please follow your normal routine. If required, the contractor will move bins to an appropriate location and return them. Please ensure that you label your bins with your address.

TTC Service Diversion Information (during Phase 2 and 3)

44 Kipling South and 944 Kipling South Express: Southbound Kipling Avenue, westbound Birmingham Street, southbound Twenty-Second Street, eastbound Lake Shore Boulevard West, south and then northbound Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, eastbound Lake Shore Boulevard West, northbound Fifteenth Street, westbound Birmingham Street, northbound Kipling Avenue to route.

501/301 Queen (Westbound only): Westbound Lake Shore, northbound Fifteenth Street, westbound Birmingham Street and southbound Twenty-Second Street. TTC Pole Cards with service information will also be posted at stops along each route.
