Humber’s Commitment to a Healthy YOU - Social Health and Well-Being

4 colour heart outline with the word Health in the centre. The words Financial, Social, Mental and Physical surround it.

At Humber, we value the health and well-being of our staff and students and want to support YOU every step of the way.

To support this commitment, Humber has launched humber.ca/healthyYOU, an online healthy community hub that is a central site for well-being resources for students and employees.

The Hub also includes Humber’s Well-being Strategy, which focuses on four pillars: mental, physical, financial, and social health and well-being. We provide support to the overall health and well-being of our employees through a variety of resources and initiatives.

Humber's Social Health and Well-being Commitment

To support our employees’ social health and well-being, the following resources are available:

  • Career Milestones Recognition
The Career Milestone program recognizes faculty and staff on completing full-time years of service. We celebrate their achievements throughout their employee journey from their first year, and in five year increments up to forty years of service.

  • Employee Resource Groups
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary, employee-led groups that foster a diverse and inclusive workplace aligned with organizational mission, values, goals, business practices, and objectives. Humber’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) include an 2SLGBTQ+ ERG and a Black/African ERG.

  • President’s Awards and Breakfast
The President's Awards have been a proud tradition of recognizing excellence among Humber faculty and staff. Each year, the President's Awards are bestowed on employees who achieve excellence in various fields and criteria, at the Annual President's Breakfast and Recognition Ceremony.

  • Professional Learning Resources
Humber is committed to investing in professional learning for all employees, to build their capability and enable them to contribute to achieving the College’s strategic goals. Employees have access to learning opportunities in a variety of forms and styles to suit each learner.

  • Remote Working Resources
Humber’s Remote Working Policy is grounded in the philosophy that employees will work productively to achieve institutional goals and objectives when supported by a culture of performance and care.

  • Retiree Recognition
At Humber, we recognize and value the dedication, hard work and contribution of our employees. Each year, a Retirees’ Dinner is held to celebrate the employees who have retired at Humber in the past year.

  • The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion
The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion (the Centre) provides human rights and equity programs and services to the Humber Community. The Centre ensures that equity, diversity and inclusion are instilled throughout Humber.

  • The Unlearning Circle
This group’s mission is to foster the development of knowledge and skills among white Humber employees to continually identify, disrupt and address systemic racism and colonized ways of being, knowing, and doing.
