Student Success and Engagement is excited to share that the Orientation and Student Life Team welcomed more than 6,000 new students onto the Humber campuses this Fall 2023!
Some notable highlights:
- Orientation programs ran over the course of three days (Wednesday, August 29 to Friday, September 1) at North Campus, Lakeshore Campus and International Graduate School (IGS).
- The Orientation Team alongside our Humber Faculties had a total of 206 programs participate in Meet Your Faculty sessions.
- Orientation showcased Humber’s strength through many unique and community building opportunities such as campus tours, wellness breaks, student music performers, snack stations, ice cream trucks and more!
- We had over 35 campus partners showcase their services/support of students at our Orientation Services Fair.
- A special thank you to IGNITE who centered community building and through running Orientation activities such as Speed Friending, carnival games and offering free food.
Through Orientation attendance we were able to connect:
- Over 600 students to Black Student Success and Engagement (BSSE)
- Over 500 students to LGBTQ+ Resource Centre and Indigenous Education and Engagement
- Over 2,000 students to First Year Experience (FYE) peer mentor program
- Over 1,200 students to Accessible Learning Services (ALS)
We are still continuing to welcome students this month and we encourage everyone to check out the Welcome Month Calendar of events and encourage students to attend.
Thank you to all the faculty, staff, campus partners, IGNITE, student leaders and volunteers who helped to make this Orientation a great success.
Special thanks to the Orientation and Student Life Team who worked hard to coordinate all the events this month and ensure our students feel supported and are warmly welcomed to Humber.
