Apple released the version of iOS 17.3 which includes a new "Stolen Device Protection" feature.
How does it work?
Stolen Device Protection is a new feature in iOS 17.3 that prevents unauthorized access to your device if it is lost or stolen. When you turn on Stolen Device Protection, your device will automatically lock itself with your FaceID and Passcode if it detects that it has been removed from your possession. You can also remotely lock your device using the Find My Phone app on another Apple device or iCloud.com. To unlock your device, you will need to verify your identity with FaceID or enter your Passcode and Recovery Key. You can reset your Recovery Key using your Apple ID and trusted phone number if you don't have your Recovery Key. Stolen Device Protection helps keep your data and Apple Pay information secure, even if your device falls into the wrong hands.
How to use Stolen Device Protection
Turning on Stolen Device Protection in four steps:
- Download and install iOS 17.3
- Open the Settings app
- Open FaceID & Passcode menu
- Toggle on Stolen Device Protection
