New Sustainable Urban Farming Micro-Credential

The Faculty of Social & Community Services is offering a new micro-credential in Sustainable Urban Farming, facilitated by Amanda Smiderle. This course is open to learners at all levels, anyone interested in building an indoor garden and growing their own food. 

Amanda Smiderle is a seasoned gardener with expertise in Nutritional Sciences and Physical Therapy, who will provide both theoretical and practical insights into sustainable urban farming. The course covers essential topics including food sovereignty, crop planning, troubleshooting pests, and the social impacts of sustainable urban gardening. 

The micro-credential runs from September 30 to November 15, 2024. Upon successful completetion, learners will be issued a Humber College digital badge certifies their skills. The course fee will cover: 

  • Access to seven self-paced online learning modules 
  • Access to live online sessions for networking with the facilitator and peers 
  • All materials needed to build and plant an indoor garden, delivered to your home
