Student Wellness and Equitable Learning is thrilled to announce a collaborative initiative between Humber Polytechnic and the Canadian Mental Health Association Toronto (CMHA). Based on feedback from students and faculty, and grounded in a commitment within the Humber Polytechnic Well-Being Strategy to boost a diversity of mental health supports and resources, we are launching a pilot project designed to provide crucial weekend mental health support to our learners living in Residence, ensuring timely assistance during our 2024-2025 academic year.
As you may recall, we launched a similar initiative with CMHA Toronto in Winter 2024. The pilot gained remarkable traction and was well received by our learner, staff, and Humber Community. Commencing on Saturday, September 7, CMHA Toronto will be present at both the Lakeshore and North Residences on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m. for a period of 14-weeks each semester. The designated locations for support are as follows:
- North Campus Residence: R Building, first floor (please visit front desk)
- Lake Campus Residence: LR Building, first floor (please visit front desk)
This pilot project aims to offer our learners with a meaningful alternative to the emergency department, while enhancing accessibility to mental health resources on campus. Recognizing the diverse challenges faced by our learners concerning the social determinants of health, this strategic partnership not only promotes individual well-being but also facilitates seamless connections to community resources.
