As part of a recent NSERC-Humber news announcement, the Centre for Innovation in Health and Wellness (CIHW) is the proud recipient of a grant awarded through the College and Community Social Innovation Fund (CCSIF). CIHW’s research project, The Impact of Precarious Employment on International Students' Mental Health and Well-being will be led by CIHW Director and Principal Investigator Dr. Vanita Varma and Indus Community Services. Together, they will examine how precarious employment affects the mental health of international students in the Greater Toronto Area. The project will address a research gap by focusing on the mental health implications of precarious employment and create a prototype website to disseminate this framework.

Opportunity for a Faculty member as Co-Principal Investigator/Advisor

CIHW is seeking to engage a Humber faculty member, who, through their commitment to teaching excellence, scholarship, and student success, will contribute to this novel research project as a Co-Principal Investigator/Advisor. This integral role entails advising and mentoring the research team in advancing the project’s objectives in year one. The faculty member’s subject matter expertise needs to be aligned with international and domestic student employment needs and the intersection with economics, labour and/or social and health services. This role involves a one-year commitment; two to five hours per month and project-related costs would be available.
