Participate in the study “Student Well-being in Learning Environments” to identify effective teaching strategies that boost student mental health, well-being, engagement, and retention at Humber Polytechnic and University of Guelph-Humber.

The goal of the study is to enhance our understanding of teaching interventions and practices that promote student well-being. This work is connected to advancing Humber’s Well-being Strategy and student success and retention. As part of this research, you will participate in an interview and a survey will be shared with students in your course(s). Additionally, you will have the opportunity to showcase your work on Humber’s website and podcast. Participants will receive a $30 gift card.

Examples of well-being-focused teaching strategies may include:

  • Offering flexible deadlines or assignment choices to reduce stress and support autonomy
  • Building a culture of care through inclusive language, trauma-informed approaches, and regular check-ins
  • Weaving in wellness-related content like stress management tips or reflective activities
  • Promoting help-seeking by talking about campus supports or sharing your own strategies for handling challenges
