Announcement - Steve Camacho

It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing that Steve Camacho will be leaving our Humber family to advance his career at the Toronto Catholic District School Board as Chief Information Officer.

Steve joined Information Technology Services at Humber in 2004 as a Support Centre Analyst and progressively moved into senior roles until his appointment in 2012 as Director, Technology Services. Steve has committed himself to education and professional development. Prior to joining Humber, Steve earned an advanced diploma from Seneca College in 2001, but while working full-time at Humber and using an established pathway agreement earned his bachelor degree from Ryerson University in 2011. In addition, he completed a certificate in project management from the University of Toronto and last year completed his Masters of Business Administration from the joint MBA program at Queen’s University and Cornell University.

There are many successful initiatives that were guided by Steve’s leadership including the recent migration to Office 365, construction of a new data centre at North Campus, implementation of an academic desktop virtualization pilot, major technology infrastructure upgrades (network, storage), wireless network upgrades and the introduction of the Eduroam service. The many capital development and renovation projects undertaken at Humber including the Learning Resource Commons, Backfill and the Centre for Technology Innovation benefit from his support and involvement.

Steve has contributed to various internal and external committees including his appointment last year as the co-chair of the Academic and Educational Technology Committee (AETC). Steve was also a member of the Integrated Risk Management Committee (IRMC) and currently represents Humber externally as an executive member on the GTAnet board of governors.

Known as the “CFO of ITS” due to his extensive involvement in the development and management of the central ITS budget, Steve will be missed by many at Humber. His last day with Humber will be Friday February 23. Further communication will follow about transition plans as they are developed.

Please join me in congratulating Steve on his new role and best wishes on a new adventure.
