Fitness Centre General Policies:

Our policies ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy fitness with respect and confidence.

  • All staff, members, and students must have a membership card to access our facilities, while staff can also use their Avro app for entry. See access details HERE for details. 
  • Using someone else's ID is forbidden and may result in membership suspension.
  • Please follow the guidance of Humber Athletics staff, and feel free to ask if you have any questions.
  • Disruptive or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Non-compliance with Athletics Department policies & procedures may lead to the suspension or cancellation of your membership. 

Facility Use:

  • Share with Consideration: Ensure everyone has fair access to equipment and space. During busy times, be flexible with your exercises to maintain safety and respect for all users. When possible, consider sharing equipment or working together for the best soluation. 
  • Utilize Day Use Lockers - For security and safety, please store all personal belongings in a day-use locker. Gym bags and personal items are not permitted on the floor. Remember to bring your own lock. If you need a lock, visit the main office during office hours to purchase one. Athletics is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. 
  • No MMA/sparring without Humber Athletics instructor or personal trainer supervision.
  • Filming & Photo Policy - Lakeshore Cmapus - See Full policy below. North Campus - No filming and photos. 
  • Personal Training - Personal trainers who are not hired by Humber Athletics are not permitted to train clients in this facility. Virtual Coaching is prohibitied. 
  • Phone Calls - To maintain a comfortable environtment for all guests, please take phone calls in the stairwell or none busy area. 

Proper Equipment Use:

  • Safety First - Always use clips on barbells. Avoid setting up in high traffic areas.
  • Need Help? Ask staff for assistance if you are unfamiliar with equipment and machines. 
  • Respect the Space - Kepp weights off cardio machines, aviods bouncing or slamming weights. 
  • Maintaine cleanliness - Wipe down machines after use and dispose of wipes properly.
  • Return Equipment - Return all euipment to it's designated spot after your workout. 

Chalk Use:

  • Chalk is prohibited in the North Campus Fitness Centre.
  • At Lakeshore, use chalk with a towel underneath and clean up afterward is permitted.

Clothing & Footwear:
PERMITTED

  • Dry, clean, closed-toed athletic shoes.
  • Athletic Attire (ie. Non-restrictive fabic)

NOT PERMITTED

  • Street clothes, jeans & dress pants, belts
  • Dress shoes, boots, open-toed shoes or Crocs

 

    Fitness Studio Policies:

    • Be on time for fitness classes: Arrive promptly to respect the instructor and participants. Important safety information and class breakdown are covered at the beginning, and late arrvials will not be permitted once class starts. For equipment access during class, as staff for assistance. 
    • Dress Code: Wear proper fitness attire and athletics shoes. Bare feet is permitted during stretching, yoga or Pilates. 
    • Cellphone Policy: To respect all participants, cell phone use, including photos and videos, is not permitted during fitness classes. 
    • Equipment Care: All equipment must be wiped down and put away after use. 
    • MMA/Sparring Policy: MMA an dsparring are permitted only during Humber-scheduled classes or with supervision from a Humber personal trainer. 
    • Headphone Only: No music should be played aloud; this space is a headphone-only space. Speakers may only be used during authorized classes and bookings. 
    • Shared Space Policy: Create a welcoming and inclusive environment by sharing equipment, keeping areas accessible for everyone, and ensuring studio doors remain open at all times. If you are a club or group practicing in the studios, you must have prior approval for your booking before using the space.

    REFUND POLICES

    *Members who have Athletic privileges revoked for behavioral or policy noncompliance reasons are not eligible for reimbursement for fees or time lost.  

    MEMBERSHIPS

    • Refunds for memberships will only be offered within two weeks of commencement/payment of the membership. All refunds will be subjected to a $25.00 service fee.

    • Day passes are final sale. Non-refundable.

    • Humber Athletics does NOT offer ‘Holds’ on Fitness Centre Memberships.

    • Humber College Department of Athletics will be closed for all statutory holidays, as well as an extended period during December/January. Athletics may close periodically for special events/training. An additional two weeks will automatically be added to any membership purchased over the December College dates to accommodate these closures. No reimbursements will be granted for these dates. Extra dates will not be issued to memberships that do not extend over the December closures.

    Fitness/Personal Training Appointments

    • Twenty-four hours’ notice must be given when canceling or rescheduling any appointments. Failure to notify your trainer will result in the loss of that session from your package.

    • No refunds will be offered two weeks after the commencement of the first session booked.

    • If a refund is granted within the two weeks, you will receive reimbursement for the remainder of sessions not used from the package, less a $25.00 service fee.

    • Staff/Member Personal Training Sessions expire one (1) year from the purchase date with an active membership.

    • Student Personal Training Sessions expire at the end of the term of enrollment. Proof of enrollment must be shown for all student rate packages. All sessions must be used during the Student Enrollment period. Purchased (student-priced) sessions may only be used while actively enrolled.

    • If you are returning in the fall semester and are not enrolled in summer classes, you may use your sessions but must purchase a student summer membership. *Members who have Athletic privileges revoked for behavioral or policy noncompliance reasons are not eligible for reimbursement for fees or time lost.

    IMPORTANT RENEWAL POLICY FOR ALL MEMBERSHIPS: 
    Upon acquiring a new membership and for existing members, please take note of the expiration date (Printed on Card). It is the member's responsibility to renew within 14 days after expiration. Failure to renew will result in inability to purchase a new membership until our next membership sales period. There will be no exceptions. 

    Lakeshore Filming & Photography Policy

    These policies aim to ensure everyone enjoys a respectful and safe environment at Humber Lakeshore Athletics Fitness Centre

    Permitted Uses 

    • Photos and filming are permitted in most public areas, provided they do not include others in the shot

    Discretionary Rules

    • Avoid blocking shared spaces. Do not place cameras or tripods where they may disrupt movement or limit access for others.
    • Filming or photographing others without their active participation is not permitted. Even with consent, such requests can be uncomfortable and intimidating. To protect everyone’s right to work out in a stress-free environment, please refrain from capturing people in the background
    • Small, minimal tripods are permitted but must not block walkways, be positioned to cover an entire area, or create safety hazards.

    Prohibited Uses:

    • No photos, videos, video calls, or live streaming in change rooms or washrooms.
    • No capturing others in your shot. Any content with others in the background are to be deleted.
    • No live streaming, virtual coaching, or filming for professional purposes.
    • Additional videography equipment (e.g., lighting, backgrounds) is not permitted.

    Professional Media/School Projects Requests:

    • For professional or school project purposes, prior approval is required before filming or photography. Please contact Humber Athletics management to obtain permission.
