Humber Scholarships Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for scholarships?

To apply for scholarships follow these five easy steps:

1. Log in to MyHumber

2. Click “Student Awards and Financial Aid”

3. Click “Apply for Scholarships”

4. Click “Sign in with your Institution”

5. Input your Humber username (in lower case) and password and start applying!

What is Blackbaud Award Management (BBAM)?

Blackbaud Award Management, also known as BBAM, is an online integrated scholarship management platform that helps students apply for scholarships at Humber using a single, streamlined application.

This platform is currently being used by over 500 colleges, universities and foundations across North America and has revolutionized their scholarship management process. BBAM will provide an easier and more efficient way for students to apply for scholarships and ultimately receive the support they need to complete their education. You can access this platform by logging in to your MyHumber account and following the instructions.

How does BBAM match me with scholarships?

Based on the information you provide on your general application and the information in your student record on MyHumber, BBAM identifies and matches students to scholarship opportunities in two ways:

1. Auto-matching scholarships:

a. You are automatically matched to scholarships for which you may qualify, based on your general application and your student information pulled from your MyHumber account.

b. You do not need to take any further action once you have filled in the general application form for these scholarships and you will be considered an applicant.

2. Apply to other scholarships:

a. If you have successfully answered and submitted all of the required questions in your general application, you may be eligible to apply for additional recommended opportunities.

b. To be considered for these scholarships, click 'Apply'. you may be asked to complete supplemental essay questions, provide references or submit tracking documentation like a resume, a high school transcript, etc.

c. To view a comprehensive list of all scholarships currently accepting applications, go to the Opportunities tab, and select “Ours.”

d. Click on the apply button beside any open scholarship opportunity to begin applying:

When you click on apply, you will see the questions you need to complete.

You will be taken to the supplemental questions page where you must fill out any additional scholarship questions that are specific to that opportunity in order to apply. These questions could include a short answer response, an essay style question, a drop-down list selection, or attach/upload additional information with your submission. Once you complete your answers, click Save and Submit

Who can apply for scholarships?

Full-time students enrolled at Humber College with a Humber user ID and password are able to apply for scholarships.

After filling out the general application and recommended applications, what are my next steps?

Once you complete the general application and any recommended applications, each of the applications on your dashboard will show a status of “Submitted.” You can log out of the system knowing your information will be reviewed and forwarded to the proper people for review. You will receive a confirmation email after you submit your general application.

How do I check on the status of my application?

To monitor the progress of your scholarship application, please log into the system, click on the Applications tab and check the status on your Applications dashboard.

Can I make updates or changes to my submission?

Yes - you can check back with the system regularly to see if there are any new scholarships available. You can also log back in at any time before the deadline of October 5, 2020 if you need to make changes to your application.

What are ‘opportunities’?

BBAM uses the term ‘opportunities’ when referring to scholarships.

When can I apply for scholarships?

Scholarships are available in both the fall and winter semesters. Scholarships for the Fall semester will launch on August 24, 2020. We recommend that you check back from time to time as additional scholarships may become available after August 24, 2020. A date will be shared as to when scholarships will be available for the Winter semester.

What is the deadline to apply for scholarships?

Scholarship applications for the fall semester will close on October 5, 2020.

Please ensure you complete your application by this date.

When will I receive notice about the scholarships if I am a successful scholarship recipient?

If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you will receive an email notifying you within three to four weeks after the application deadline.

What do I do once I receive a scholarship offer?

You will need to accept the offer, and once you do, you will then need to complete post-acceptance questions. Your post-acceptance questions will be located under the Supplementary Questions tab in Blackbaud Award Management. You will also receive an email with instructions on completing your post-acceptance questions once you accept the scholarship.

What are post-acceptance questions and why are they important?

Many of the bursaries, scholarships and awards students receive at Humber College are made possible through the generosity of donors. By filling out your post-acceptance questions, you are able to tell your donor a little bit about yourself, thank them for their generosity and show them the impact their support has had in your life.

If I am selected as a scholarship recipient, when will I receive my funds?

Once you have successfully completed your post-acceptance questions, you will be awarded the scholarship funds as a tution credit. Your scholarship monies will be applied to your MyHumber account within three to four weeks. An email communication will be sent to you with further instructions.

Do I have to submit a general application each semester?

Yes, you must submit a new general application each semester to be considered for scholarships.
