Devon Metcalf

Overview

Devon Metcalf is trained as a microbiologist earning a PhD from the Department of Pathobiology in the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. Her research into the pathogenesis of Clostridioides difficile led her into the field of infection prevention and control, where she has been working since 2012 – beginning in a hospital and now continuing at a public health agency.
She is Certified in Infection Control (CIC) and is an active member of IPAC Canada, the national professional organization for Canadian IPAC professionals. She is the current Chair of the Standards and Guidelines committee and held previous positions such as Chair of the Endorsement Review Committee and was the Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Infection Control.

Always having a passion for teaching, she earned a Bachelor of Education specializing in adult education from Brock University. Devon is currently a Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness for the Infection Prevention and Control Ontario Graduate Certificate program.
