In the IGS Global Teams Rooms immersive, live-streamed classes enable real-time interaction and collaboration between learners across the globe. Enhanced academic videoconferencing technology closes the gap for remote learners and expands educational opportunities for students and faculty.

Smart meeting rooms throughout the IGS are equipped with built-in conferencing technology and smart screens to facilitate collaboration breakout activities, and simulate the workplace of the future.

Tech Zone

Humber Downtown (IGS) students can access technical support from a dedicated team at the IGS Tech zone. The laptop lending machine provides students with laptops on a temporary basis if they are facing technical difficulties with their own devices.

Idea Lab

Idea Lab Make. Create. Innovate.

Have an idea? Bring it to life at the Idea Lab, a creative studio at Humber Downtown with professional audio equipment and supported by digital learning resources. Open to current Humber students, faculty, and staff, the Idea Lab is designed to help you explore, experiment, and execute your ideas.  

Whether you're looking to record a podcast, an interview, a voice over, or host a webinar, the Idea Lab provides the tools, technology and supports to make it happen.  

The Idea Lab Downtown is an initiative of the Humber & University of Guelph-Humber Library and Humber Downtown. Additional facilities are available at North Campus (3rd floor, LRC) and Lakeshore (G building). Ready to create? Visit the Idea Lab and bring your vision to life!  

What You Can Do:  

  • Audio Recording Studio – Record up to four people in IGS613 and bring in remote guests for interviews using Bluetooth or video conferencing software.  
  • Borrow Equipment - Come to the Downtown Idea Lab to borrow camera kits, audio recorder kits, tripods, and other accessories. Our equipment is available to students and employees from all areas.
  • Book a Virtual Appointment – Need technical guidance or troubleshooting with a digital media assignment? Or maybe you just want an expert on hand while you work? The Idea Lab team is here to help.

Mihaela Pop, Project Managment Professor and Program Coordinator

Mihaela Pop is a Professor and Program Coordinator for the Project Management program at the IGS campus.

With over 20 years of experience leading transformational projects and programs for top-tier companies, Mihaela’s focus is to bring real-life business examples to the classroom and foster mutually beneficial relationships with industry and local community. For our students this approach ensures an enhanced learning, understanding of the Canadian marketplace, and readiness to compete for their dream jobs. Mihaela is an expert in project management methodologies and an Agile framework enthusiast who keeps herself up to date in regard to industry trends and best practices through applied research.

Her global corporate experience gave her the opportunity to be immersed in different cultures and be a passionate supporter of diversity in the workplace. Her perspective brings commitment to a classroom environment where all students can achieve their potential, add value, and experience a sense of community regardless of their background and country of origin. Mihaela is very excited to be part of the amazing IGS Campus team of faculty and staff, whose whole purpose is student success and fulfillment.

Omar Wahdan, Full-Time Professor and Program Coordinator

Omar is currently a full-time professor and program coordinator for the Business Insights and Analytics program.

His teaching and research interests include business intelligence, big data analysis, data visualization and modeling. Omar's experience accumulated through an MSc and PhD in Artificial intelligence, a Postdoctoral fellowship in Machine Learning and Data Analytics from Ryerson University (now TMU), and several years of teaching and industrial consultancy both in Canada and oversees. Omar is keen in practicing experiential learning with his students and found that the International Graduate School (IGS) offers an excellent environment to exercise it. For Omar, "Being surrounded by Canada's largest financial and technological hub and offering adaptive technology and collaborative classrooms, the IGS is a unique place to prepare our students to succeed in a competitive, global, and technology-driven job market."
