Accessible Learning Services Best Practice Considerations - Student Responsibilities in the Accommodation Process

Enhancing Institutional EDI Knowledge of Disability and Academic Accessibility:

  • ALS’s Best Practice Considerations through the Communiqué focuses on equipping faculty to better support students with disabilities. Where appropriate, ALS encourages students to be actively involved in the accommodation process.

  • For example, students with disabilities connected with ALS are responsible for renewing their Accommodation Letter each semester.

  • Students are also advised to contact faculty to request accommodations in advance of a test or to request an extension.

  • We encourage faculty to actively dialogue with students regarding accommodation requests.

Visit our ALS Information for Faculty website to learn more about accommodating students with disabilities.
