Welcome Back – Building Belonging Together This Fall

Dear Humber and Guelph-Humber Community, 

As we open the doors to a new academic year, the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (EDIB) extends heartfelt gratitude to every member of our community. It is through your courage, creativity, and commitment that Humber continues to grow as a place where belonging is not only nurtured but lived every day. Together, we are shaping a learning environment that reflects the richness of our diverse identities and experiences. 

This Fall, we look forward to advancing the work of embedding EDIB across our classrooms, events, and campus life. Our collective action will ensure that equity and belonging remain central to the Humber experience, guiding how we teach, how we lead, and how we connect with one another. 

Here’s how you can engage with us this semester: 

  • EDIB Collective Action Learning Hub: The Belonging Series – A semester long exploration of what it means to build, sustain, and deepen belonging at Humber. We will explore key topics such as Cultivating Spaces of Belonging, Courageous Conversations, and more.
  • Community Conversations – These gatherings are less about formal learning outcomes and more about creating space to talk, share, and connect. Together, we explore how our stories shape who we are and how we relate to one another. Open to all faculty, staff, and students, these sessions invite us to slow down, listen, reflect, and discover new ways of building deeper connections across our Humber community. 
  • Office Hours – Drop in to connect with our team, ask questions, or explore how we can support your work and learning. 
  • Equity HubsBlack Student Support & Engagement, the LGBTQ+ Resource Centre, and the Spirituality & Wellness Centre are dedicated spaces for students to find affirmation, resources, and community. We encourage staff and faculty to actively connect students to these hubs so they can access the support and sense of belonging they need to thrive. 
  • Request Link – Looking to work with us? Use this link to share your request so we can identify the best ways to collaborate and support initiatives that strengthen equity and belonging. 
  • EDIB Champions – Belonging grows when we share our lived experiences, and we invite you to add your experiences to Humber’s story. EDIB Champions is an opportunity to share how you and others are bringing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging to life across our community—whether in classrooms, events, programs, or everyday interactions. You can spotlight your own story or recognize colleagues, students, staff, and faculty who are demonstrating leadership and making a difference. These stories will be highlighted across Humber to celebrate and amplify the many ways our community is advancing EDIB and strengthening our sense of belonging. 

We enter this semester grateful for the energy, perspectives, and commitment each of you brings to Humber. We are excited to work alongside you in the months ahead as we continue to weave equity and belonging into the fabric of our community—making Fall 2025 a season defined by connection, collaboration, and collective impact.
