Humber faculty and textbook decision makers,

Summer will soon be upon us and the staff at both the North and Lakeshore Campus stores would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that we are currently accepting book orders for the Fall 2018 semester. We respectfully request that you submit your requests by June 1. Receiving your list of required course materials as soon as possible will allow us to source all available options (new, used, print, digital, etc.) for incoming students, as well as provide the optimum value to students who are selling books. Timely submission of requests ensures that we have plenty of time to source and order all of your materials before the start of Fall classes.

Over the past decade publishers have implemented a wide variety of delivery options for their course materials. Each version has its own unique ISBN as an identifier. The Campus Store has the ability to provide all options for the majority of materials requested

  • Print textbooks (Hardcover, Soft cover and Loose Leaf)
  • Custom textbooks (reduced chapters or combination of multiple texts into a single volume)
  • Bundles - 2 or more print components, or a print version with a code to access online content. Please let us know if the online content is required for your course or simply recommended. This will assist us in providing more price options for your students.
  • Digital - PDF or Adaptive Learning version (i.e. MyLab, Connect, Wiley Plus, etc.)

To submit your list of course materials you may use our Online Adoption tool. To access to this service for the North Campus, please visit humbershop.ca. For the Lakeshore Campus please visit humberlakeshoreshop.ca.  Scroll to the bottom of either homepage and from under the heading Faculty Services, select Online Adoptions. You will be asked to login or register. For first time users, the generic password is 947, and for Lakeshore it is 948. If you prefer a paper copy of your previous term information, either store this information upon request.

Please let us know if we can assist you in any way. We are here to answer your questions and will gladly walk you through the online adoption process should you require assistance.  We look forward to receiving your list of Fall course materials.

Send us your ideas for collaborative exhibitions and public workshops!

Humber Galleries invites proposals from collaborators like you for programming in 2018/2019 at both our galleries: North Space and L Space (see space profiles here). We are interested in proposals from artists, collectives, curators, educators, neighbours, student groups, and cultural organizations. We particularly encourage proposals from people who are affiliated with Humber College, based in Etobicoke, and/or identify as emerging artists.

Applications will be reviewed by Humber Galleries staff. There is no fee for application. We offer standard CARFAC-RAAV fees (calculator available here).

We strongly encourage applicants to read our mandate; consider the unique geographic, community, and physical profile of each gallery; and research the territory we are located on. Successful proposals will be grounded and generative.

Application Requirements:

In order to be considered, applicants will provide the items below in a single PDF by the deadline: July 5, 2018, 4 p.m.

1. Bio/Statement (250 - 500 words): an introductory statement which gives us a clear understanding of your practice, experience, and accomplishments.

2. Project Description (250 - 500 words): a clear proposal of what you intend to produce with Humber Galleries. Please be sure to indicate which space you are interested in working with, any technical/AV requirements you wish to access, and foreseeable budget needs. If you are proposing a curatorial project, please include a list of artists you hope to work with. If you are proposing a workshop or symposium, please give as much detail as to what material needs you would require, who would be involved, and who your intended audience may be. We thoroughly encourage projects which engage with the Humber and Etobicoke community.

3. Curriculum Vitae (1 - 3 pages)

4. Visual Support Material (3 - 5 pieces): images must be in JPG format. You may include links to video and/or audio files (3 minutes total). Please include a media list with details about each work clearly labelled.

(Call for proposals has been extended until May 9, 2018 at midnight)

Welcome to Showcase 2018! This year’s theme is Pulse, reflecting the energy and dynamic environment of the Humber community. This inspiring event will showcase the work of Humber staff and faculty who every day in their work stay #onthepulse of what is new and innovative in post-secondary education. The pulse of Humber reflects our commitment to learning, innovation and student success.

Proposals are now open! We are accepting proposals from April 16 to May 9, 2018. Submit your workshop, marketplace or poster proposal to humber.ca/showcase.

WORKSHOPS:
A workshop is a 30 or 60 minute session to share ideas with your colleagues at Humber. Examples of workshops have included: new initiatives, research, an innovative teaching and learning practice or strategy, your area of expertise, emerging trends etc. Your workshop should be interactive whenever possible.

MARKETPLACE:
Marketplace Exchange can best be described as a fair, where different schools and departments showcase what they do and how they support the Humber community both internally and externally. Marketplace exhibitors can highlight recent, current or future Humber projects, initiatives or research. Marketplace is a great opportunity to bring the Humber community together for conversation, sharing and networking.

POSTER:
A research poster summarizes a research project using text and graphs/tables/pictures on a large sheet of paper. The poster is shared during a poster session, where researchers and interested attendees chat informally about the projects. It is a great chance to spread the word about research you are doing and to get feedback and ideas about your project.
