Midterms in Testing Services

Traffic is picking up in Testing Services and we anticipate high volume over the next few weeks: February 27 through March 10. We encourage faculty members to communicate with students writing in Testing Services to let them know expectations around write dates and check in times. We do anticipate short wait times for students writing in the Test Centre based on our traffic trends.

*New* Test Referral Form:

Testing Services has redesigned our referral forms to accompany tests. The feedback from our faculty partners has been helpful, and the redesign has been done to ensure faculty members are able to provide Testing Services with all relevant details for students testing with us. Should you have previous versions of the referral forms saved, please replace with the new version which can be found here: humber.ca/student-life/testing-services/services-faculty/test-referral-form 

Please note that this referral form needs to accompany all hardcopy/paper tests submitted to Testing Services.

Online Test Submission for Faculty:

Testing Services is also pleased to offer an online submission tool for faculty members to submit tests and exams to the Test Centre that can be completed on a computer.  This tool can be used for all students, including those students who require an electronic copy of their test as part of their testing accommodations. So far over 600 faculty members have signed up for and used this service! This saves travel time to the Test Centre and tests are sent back to faculty members electronically as soon as a student has completed their test.

According to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Humber College is required to train all members of the organization on accessibility standards.

There are three AODA mandatory online training programs administered by the Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Diversity. All Humber employees are required to complete these three (3) trainings:

1. Customer Service Standards Training

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) underwent recent changes as of July 1, 2016. As a result, Humber was required to update its training on the Customer Service Standards. All Humber employees must complete the revised AODA Customer Service Standards Online Training.

2. Accessibility Awareness Training for Educators (AATE)

The Accessibility Awareness Training for Educators requires Humber College to provide educators with accessibility awareness training. All Humber employees are required to complete the online Accessibility Awareness Training for Educators.

Please note: All employees within an educational institution are defined as educators.

3. Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation/Ontario Human Rights Code Training (IASR/OHRC)

The IASR/OHRC training covers the established accessibility standards in information and communications, employment, transportation and the built environment. All Humber employees must complete the IASR/OHRC Training.

Come for a tour of our LRC Library, evolving collection, and improved facilities, and learn about staff borrowing privileges. If you haven’t activated your library account yet, you’ll have the opportunity to do so during the tour (don’t forget to bring your employee card).

After the tour we’ll retire to our library computer teaching lab where you will learn how to navigate the library’s website in order to locate books and other electronic resources like e-Journals and e-Books. Humber Child Development Centre: Child Care Spaces Available     

Are you currently looking for convenient, high quality child care? The Humber Child Development Centre (HCDC) currently has openings in all of its rooms. Our newly renovated and expanded Centre provides spaces for up to 20 infants (birth to 18 months), 30 toddlers (18 months to 2 ½ years old), and 48 preschoolers (2 ½ years old to 4 years old). Families may also be placed on our waitlist free of charge.

We are an inclusive environment and offer high quality care and education, including significant time playing outdoors in the Arboretum, from Monday to Friday from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm.  We are open all year with the exception of statutory holidays and Humber College holiday closures. HCDC is licensed by the Ministry of Education and operates under a purchase of services agreement from the City of Toronto. Families that live in the Toronto area may also apply for childcare subsidy offered in collaboration with the Toronto Children’s Services.

Do you know someone between 15 -29 years of age looking for a summer job or even their first-ever job?

Humber Community Employment Services offers a FREE program that is specifically designed for job-seeking youth (between 15 - 29 years old) and helps connect youth with employers offering job opportunities that match their skills and interests.

Not only does the program help youth make sense of the countless career options out there, but also helps them transition into the job of their choice. Upon registration, they will have access to an Employment Advisor/Facilitator – Outreach Assistant on a one-to-one basis, where they will receive customized advice and individualized support towards crafting a career plan. Furthermore, they will also get support in terms of job search workshops, creating a solid resume, interviewing practice, and so on.

Job-Seekers or Employers (or a combination) can receive up to $300 in financial incentives when employment takes place through this program, increasing the job-seeker’s chances of securing employment when they enroll in the Youth Job Link program. Up to $600 in financial incentives are available for youth with disabilities.

  • Résumé writing, searching and applying for jobs, and preparation for interviews
