March 2016 Update

Architectural rendering of School of Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism main office entrance, B building, North Campus

Building B ground floor is now under construction to become the School of HRT’s main administrative and faculty offices. Access to B building ground floor has been reduced to the south-east end of the building where Boardroom B101, public washrooms, elevator and emergency exiting remain fully accessible.  This closure will be in place until August 2016. (see communique posting March 7th).

Architectural rendering of School of Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism new baking labs in D Building, North Campus

Construction will begin in D building ground floor on March 28th and will soon become home to the School of HRT’s flagship baking and pastry arts labs. The back corridor will have hoarding in place which will temporarily close this corridor until December 2016. Access along the glass wall corridor (Building D to Building C) will widen out and remain open. Across the hall a new E-link Open Access Lab opens this summer.

JF building will be home to both Child Care Centres staring in the fall of 2016. Construction to house the one child care centre from W building has commenced and construction on a new indoor link (from JF to FX) has also started.

Construction in J building’s 2nd floor begins at the end of March. The hallways will remain open and E-Link Open Access Lab on H2 remains open and unaffected. New classrooms will open for use in the fall of 2016.

Architectural rendering of Department of Public Safety main offices, ground floor of NX building, North Campus

NX Building construction on the ground and second floors will continue and will be turned over to Public Safety and the Applied Tech Administration in the coming weeks.  Access to the LRC courtyard remains open.

Architectural rendering of the School of Applied Technology main offices, 2nd floor of NX building, North Campus

Construction of the NX Building renovation continues although Floors 3, 4 and 5 will be completed on March 24th with SAT faculty offices being relocated over the Easter Long Weekend.  Hoarding on these floors will be altered to adjust to provide access for staff.
