Spirited Away

The highest grossing film in Japanese history, and the first anime film to win an Academy Award, this is a coming-of-age story about a 10-year old girl named Chihiro who gets lost in an abandoned amusement park and suddenly finds herself stuck in an alternate universe of monsters and spirits. In its portrayal of her mysterious journey, Spirited Away asks fascinating questions about generational conflict and the relationship between individual identity and cultural traditions in an increasingly globalized world.
