The last concert in this season�۪s Humber Music Jazz Series will feature a tribute to
Dave Stillwell and a reunion of the Humber Blue Jackets.

Dave Stillwell retired in June 2010 after 35 years with Humber Music where he not only taught, but where he also assembled and nurtured the Humber Blue Jackets. Under his direction, the Blue Jackets have been together for some 25 years. Because the members, consisting of students enrolled in the Music program change every year, there are now over 400 working musicians who have performed with the band. Known for funk, r and b, rock, and soul, the Blue Jackets have performed at universities, colleges, schools, festivals, and concerts.

The tribute and reunion will showcase the last incarnation of the Blue Jackets and will
feature the release of their CD What�۪s Next?.

The Honourable Murray Sinclair was appointed Associate Chief Judge of the Provincial Court of Manitoba in March 1988. He was Manitoba's first Aboriginal Judge, and at the time, Canada�۪s second. There are now 18 Aboriginal judges Canada.

He was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1980. In the course of his legal practice, Judge Sinclair practiced primarily in the fields of Civil and Criminal Litigation and Aboriginal Law and was known for his representation of Aboriginal people and his knowledge of Aboriginal legal issues.

Shortly after his appointment as Associate Chief Judge of the Provincial Court of Manitoba in 1988, Judge Sinclair was also appointed as Co-Commissioner of Manitoba's Aboriginal Justice Inquiry along with Court of Queen's Bench Associate Chief Justice A. C. Hamilton. Justice Sinclair is also the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) and will be presenting on the Impact of the Residential School System on Aboriginal People and communities and the work of the TRC.
