Celebrate World Diabetes Day on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 12 p.m. with lunch in the Humber Room. 

For the past decade, Stephanie Maggs has been raising money for the Canadian Diabetes Association with the goal of raising $100,000 in her lifetime, specifically by running marathons on all seven continents. She is hosting a lunch event in the Humber Room on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Currently, Stephanie is raising $18,000 and running her last continent - Antarctica 2020 with Team Diabetes.   

There will be a delicious lunch served, lots of table prizes, and a silent auction.

Tickets are $40.

The fundraiser is being organized by professors from the Tourism Management Program. They are participating in a fundraising Spinathon (under the pseudonym 'The Tacky Tourists'). Proceeds from the fundraiser (50% of net profits from sales) will be donated to the United Way.

L&D Management Workshop - Feedback Strategies for Successful Leadership

The process of giving and receiving constructive feedback is another important skill that managers need when working effectively with their team. If done properly, productivity is increased, and interpersonal relationships are enhanced. Stress is reduced, and the work environment is healthy.

Learning objectives:

  •  Identify the benefits of giving feedback
  •  Identify how conflict plays a role in feedback
  •  List the six strategic steps of constructive feedback
  •  Learn how to deposit into the emotional bank account

At the end of the workshop, participants will:

  •  Appreciate the importance of feedback as a skill
  •  Demonstrate the strategic steps of giving and receiving feedback
  •  Know the barriers of feedback and how to overcome them

As part of International Education Week, Humber International is running an assessment workshop.
Attendees will learn:

  • Various steps involved in an international assessment
  • Understanding and assessing program requirements, English language requirements
  • Intersections between admissions and IRCC
  • Grade conversions
  • Assessment resources
  • Key markets for Humber
  • Funnel statistics (applications, offers and starts)

This will be a practical workshop where attendee will get the opportunity to assess documents from India, Brazil and Nigeria.
The workshop will be run on both campuses as follows:

Tuesday November 13

  • 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. in F232 (North Campus) 
  • 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. in B114 (Lakeshore Campus) 

Friday November 16
