Please join us in celebrating Karen’s 34 year career at Humber.
Date:  Monday, December 5, 2016
Location:  The Humber Room, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
RSVP yes’s only to pat.cuda@humber.ca

Karen began her career at Humber College in 1982, starting on the same day as former president Robert ‘Squee’ Gordon and has enjoyed a wonderful career spanning 34 years. She has worked with three Presidents and reported to six Vice Presidents in her time at Humber.

She began her journey in a support staff role in the Conference & Seminar Services Department where she was quickly promoted to the role of Project Coordinator in 1983.  She then moved into an administrative role as a Program Manager in 1987 and in 1992 she accepted the role of Manager for the Transportation Training Centre. In 1994 she assumed the role of Director for that business unit.

While the main focus of her portfolio has been in the transportation sector, she has often been called upon to take the responsibility for managing multiple lines of business at one time.   All of these having very different core products and different customers (youth programming, corporate training, sailing, driver instructor training, Association programs etc.). As the portfolio continued to change, the unit was renamed Education & Training Solutions in 2011.

Karen has held many professional memberships both internal and external to the College. These have included: College CE Committee; AOC; the Community MicroSkills Advisory Committee; Ontario Police Commercial Vehicle Committee; Ontario College Administrative Staff Association; Provincial Colleges Training Network (PCTN), Ministry of Transportation Driver Certification Committee, Ministry of Transportation Program Review Committee, Leadership Connections Advisory Committee (ACCES Employment) to just name a few.

Her ability to manage relationships extremely well and consistently demonstrate a positive approach has garnered her the respect of those she interacts with.  This has also led to the development of a number of long term partnerships with external organizations

She has been the recipient of the Humber Administrative Distinguished Service Award; an award of appreciation from the Ontario Police Commercial Vehicle Committee; the Road Safety Award from Canadian Pro Drivers; and, she has been acknowledged by media as a subject matter expert in the area of transportation.

Join us as we wish Karen good health and much happiness in her retirement.
