Humber & University of Guelph-Humber Library (Library) is working on a new Library Vision & Action Plan, and we want to hear from you. What do you want your Library experience to look like and feel like? What role do you see the Library playing in Humber’s, UofGH’s, and your success?

Help us create the North Star that will guide the Library’s future by joining us at one or all of our three consultation sessions:

  1. Resources & Curriculum Support: The Library plays a critical role in the provision of resources to support learning and development. How might that role evolve and better support your learning and development needs?
Join the virtual discussion on May 20 from 1 to 2 p.m.

  2. Technological Innovations: Traditionally libraries have been associated with physical spaces and books. Today, they are much, much more, offering virtual access, digital resources, makerspaces, that link students and staff to new technologies and foster digital fluency and employability skills. How do you see the Library’s role in leveraging new technologies in higher education? How might the Library use technology to improve access to its resources and services?
Join the virtual discussion on May 12 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  3. Partnership Innovations: The Library works collaboratively across Humber Polytechnic and the University of Guelph-Humber to provide a wide variety of services and supports to Faculties and departments. How might the Library’s role evolve to facilitate cross-disciplinary knowledge exchange and strengthen the work of faculties/departments?
Join the virtual discussion on May 14 from 12 to 1 p.m.

Can’t make the session but want to share your thoughts? Look out for an online form that we will circulate in Communiqué.

Thank you for building our future with us. Your suggestions will help Humber refine our role and current practices and develop new initiatives.

Can we work together to save the sea otters?

Endangered is a cooperative board game where players take on one of five roles - Zoologist, Philanthropist, TV Wildlife Host, Lobbyist, or Environmental Lawyer - to try to save a population of a species at risk.

In honour of Endangered Species Day the following day, Humber & University of Guelph-Humber Library and Humber Arboretum invite students and staff to come together on Thursday, May 15 and see if they can save the sea otters, who are listed as a species of Special Concern in Canada.

There will also be books to sign out and displays to learn about endangered species.

When: Thursday, May 15, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

This is a drop-in event and it will be possible to join the game in-progress if space permits, but arriving at the start is the best way to get in on the game. Spectators are also welcome.

All Humber faculty (full and part-time), staff, and students are invited to the ACER Community of Interest.

The Community of Interest (CI) offers an informal, virtual platform for the Humber community to connect over their shared interest in topics related to aging. Highlights from ACER’s previous CI Meetings can be read on our website.

This virtual 'brown bag' lunch conversation revolves around subjects that matter to participants, such as articles they would like to discuss, upcoming events, potential research projects, and the sharing of research results. The community meets on the third Thursday of the month from 12 to 1 p.m.

Humber Polytechnic is proud to participate in the Moosehide Campaign, an Indigenous-led movement dedicated to ending violence against women and children. The campaign calls on men and boys to stand up and take action against gender-based violence, fostering a safer and more respectful community for all.

What is Moosehide Campaign Day? Moosehide Campaign Day is a nationwide initiative that engages Canadians in ceremonies, fasts, and educational activities to raise awareness and take tangible steps towards ending violence against women and children. Wearing a moosehide pin signifies a personal commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in your life

Flag Raising Ceremony: Join us for the flag raising ceremony at Humber on May 14 from 2 to 2:30 p.m. This event will include a brief introduction to the Moosehide Campaign, followed by the raising of the flag in solidarity with the campaign's goals.

Moosehide Pins: Moosehide pins will be available for collection during the event. You can also pick up pins leading up to the event at the following locations:

  • North Campus: Indigenous Education & Engagement, Room LRC2137
  • Lakeshore Campus: Indigenous Education & Engagement, Room WEL301
