Pathways to Human Rights Education & Action
Human Rights Training Sessions for 2014/2015


All Humber employees who have attended Humber’s human rights training session prior to August 2008, are required to attend a ‘Pathways to Human Rights Education & Action’ training session. This includes sessional, contract, part-time, full-time, and work-study employees.

Participants at the workshop will:

  1. Increase their understanding of key Human Rights terms and concepts in order to more effectively prevent, recognize and respond to human rights related allegations;
  2. Receive resources that will assist in enhancing inclusion at Humber; and
  3. Receive Humber’s Human Rights Policy.

To facilitate your attendance, training sessions will be offered throughout the 2014/2015 academic year. The next available training session at the North and Lakeshore Campuses will be offered on the following dates:

This year's R & B Showcase will feature the Rhythm & Soul Band, led by Will Jarvis, and the Groove Merchants, led by Mark Kelso.

You are about to hear the evidence of why Humber Music students prosper so much under the tutelage of this country’s most successful musicians!! Put on your dancing shoes, and enjoy the grooves!!

This concert is open to the public and tickets can be purchased at the door: General Admission, $10, Seniors/Students: $5, Humber Music Students: Free.

Hot Pop Factory
Guest Lecturer: Matt Compeau, Owner, Hot Pop Factory

Hot Pop Factory
Hot Pop Factory is a design studio that specializes in the creative application of digital fabrication techniques like 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining. Founded by architecture graduates Biying Miao and Matthew Compeau in 2012, Hot Pop Factory merges high-tech manufacturing with creative design to produce bespoke, custom products and artwork. Examples of their work can be found in some of Canada’s foremost cultural institutions including the Royal Ontario Museum and the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Founder, Hot Pop Factory
Matt Compeau is a co-founder of Hot Pop Factory and is responsible for the development of the company’s technology and business strategy. After studying architecture at the University of Waterloo, he graduated with Honours and joined Cannon Design. There Compeau developed software algorithms used to generate the design of large scale architectural projects, a skill and passion that led him to found Hot Pop Factory, a design studio specializing in the creative application of digital manufacturing techniques like 3D printing.

This free concert series is held at noon most Wednesdays from September to April in the Auditorium. The concerts are open to the public and each one features a different guest artist, faculty member, or student.

This week Peter Van Huffel's trio BOOM CRANE will be performing with Peter van Huffel on saxophone, Michael Bates on bass and Jeff Davis on drums.
