Learn how to mine your industry contacts for engaging cases you can use as teaching tools to get students to apply their learning to real-world problems. This workshop will walk you through the process of writing your first case, from selecting an appropriate contact to conducting the interview(s) and shaping the narrative of the case to fit particular learning objectives. We will also prepare the case for publication with a teaching note.

In order to complete the workshop, participants must have a contact they want to interview during the week of the workshop.

Participants are required to have previous experience teaching or learning with cases, either through classroom experience or workshops on teaching cases.  For more information, please contact the Centre for Teaching and Learning at ext. 5040.

The Centre for Teaching & Learning has partnered with the L space Gallery for an exhibition that unlocks the secrets of teaching. Through visual storytelling, Humber’s faculty and staff will bring to light the experiences, strategies, and sources of inspiration that have informed their ongoing journey as mentors and learners.

We are excited to invite the Humber community to the exhibit reception, which will be held on Monday June 9, 2014, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Group projects are always a challenge. If group members are in different locations, collaboration becomes an even bigger problem. Does multiple people editing the same document, multi-versions of the same document, “good revisions” overwritten by accident ….. sound familiar?

Join this workshop and discover how to take the challenge out of group projects using Github, Bitbucket, and Git. Solve team collaboration problems quickly; such as, multiple members editing the same document resulting in multi-versions.

Established in 1956, United Way Toronto (UWT) is a charity working to advance the common good and create opportunities for a better life for everyone in our city. Every day, a wide variety of individuals, organizations, businesses and governments collaborate with United Way by donating, volunteering and partnering on projects that work to build a better city.

As part of the 2014 Sponsored Employee Team, one successful candidate will work alongside the United Way on a full-time basis from September 2 to December 19 and will provide support to 700 United Way Toronto workplace campaigns. There is 1 position available for a current full-time employee who has the skills to offer.


The information sessions will include an overview of the Humber-United Way partnership, the recruitment and selection process for the full-time opportunity, and a question and answer period.
