Does this sound familiar?

  • Your Blackboard sites have all started to look the same.
  • Each course has the same content, the same colour scheme, the same games and the same images.
  • Or perhaps you have been given the exciting, and sometimes daunting task, of upgrading an online course with new content, new images, new assessments and an overall new look.

Fear not!

During this workshop, participants will be coached on how to bring some life back into their Blackboard sites. Under the guidance of one our leading graphic designers, faculty and staff will be instructed on how to modify graphics, how to use some useful online resources to augment their site, how to access over 1000 objects in Humber’s own Learning Object Repository and how an everyday Blackboard site can come “alive”. Participants will also get a chance to talk, one-on-one, with an eLearning graphic designer to discuss how their specific site can be improved and how eLearning
can help.

Spurred on by new technology, cheating in Canadian post-secondary institutions is growing and evolving, to the point that students and teachers differ over what qualifies as cheating, according to the Canadian Council on Learning (CCL).

Tweaking and updating one’s Blackboard site occasionally requires faculty to “go behind-the-scenes” and build new content using an
HTML editor. However, using the HTML editor does not always produce the desired results.

This workshop is targeted for the intermediary HTML user, as we take a more in-depth look at HTML 5, the latest web standard, and how to use HTML5 within the Blackboard environment. HTML5 provides programmers with enhanced video, audio and canvas elements that can enhance any web page. Participants will also learn how to improve data loading and how to use JQuery in order to improve overall usability and add custom functionality; without having to "learn" JavaScript.
