Workplace stress can be triggered from many sources, including feeling that there is too much to do with not enough time, dealing with a difficult co-worker. When combined with pressures and responsibilities outside of work, it is no wonder that people experience high levels of stress both at work and at home. Some stressful events are commonly experienced across a large group; others are unique to individuals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define stress and the fight/flight response
  • Identify personal stressors and symptoms
  • Develop strategies to increase personal resiliency

There's plenty of room and refreshments provided!

Duration: 12 noon - 1 p.m.

Facilitator: Judy Lenahan-Leighton, Shepell-fgi

Learn how to mine your industry contacts for engaging cases you can use as teaching tools to get students to apply their learning to real-world problems. This workshop will walk you through the process of writing your first case, from selecting an appropriate contact to conducting the interview(s) and shaping the narrative of the case to fit particular learning objectives. We will also prepare the case for publication with a teaching note.

In order to complete the workshop, participants must have a contact they want to interview during the week of the workshop.
Participants are required to have previous experience teaching cases, either through classroom experience or workshops on teaching cases.

This workshop runs from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Event: Humber/IPAC Symposium: Shifting Gears, Innovations and Transformation in International Development

Dates: June 14 & 15, 2012.

The symposium will address these basic questions:

1.What forces are causing the significant changes in International Development over the past few years?

2.How is International Development likely to evolve over the next decade?

3.What are the implications for senior managers and board members in organizations that deliver aid programs, services and projects?

4.What are the innovative approaches aid groups are using to adapt to the changing environment? and

5.What does this mean for International Development career paths?

This theme should resonate with Humber۪s NGO stakeholder community and appeal to senior people in a cross section of Canadian and international NGOs, private sector companies, governments and multilateral organizations involved in international development.
