Humber’s Commitment to a Healthy YOU - Mental Health and Well-Being

At Humber, we value the health and well-being of our staff and students and want to support YOU every step of the way.

To support this commitment, Humber has launched humber.ca/healthyYOU, an online healthy community hub that is a central site for well-being resources for students and employees.

The Hub also includes Humber’s Well-being Strategy, which focuses on four pillars: mental, physical, financial, and social health and well-being. We provide support to the overall health and well-being of our employees through a variety of resources and initiatives.

To support our employees’ mental health and well-being, the following resources are available:

  • CAAT Group Benefits Program
Through CAAT Group Benefits, eligible Humber employees have access to financial coverage to support their mental and physical health.

  • TELUS Health (formerly LifeWorks)
TELUS Health provides all employees with access to online resources on topics such as health and well-being, career and workplace, financial security, and life-events. Full-time employees also have access to the Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP).

  • Centre for Innovation in Health & Wellness
With a strong focus on healthy living, research and innovation, and community connections, Humber’s Centre for Innovation in Health & Wellness (CIHW) is a powerful advocate for change, helping to create solutions that support a healthier tomorrow for everyone, no matter where they live, what they have, or who they are. CIHW runs the following programs:

  • Healthy Breaks @ Humber
Healthy Breaks @ Humber is an initiative that allows faculty and staff to book a short 10-minute break during the workday, in the middle of a meeting or class to refresh the body and mind. Research has shown that taking healthy breaks during the day can help improve mental health, lower anxiety, and help refocus the mind. Taking a healthy break can increase productivity, lessen body aches and pains, improve creativity, and increase engagement. These student-led sessions can be offered as either a stretch break or a mindfulness break.

  • Mindfulness @ Humber
In today's fast-paced world, finding moments of peace and tranquility is essential for our overall well-being. Join us for a transformative mindfulness meditation session, where you can recharge, find inner calm, and cultivate a deeper connection with yourself.  Virtual and in-person sessions are offered throughout the year, sign up for a time that works for you.

  • Wellness Coaching @Humber
In the winter term each year, the Wellness Coaching Program offers free 1:1 coaching to employees on their personal health and wellness goals. Led by the students in Humber's Wellness Coaching Graduate Program and using a strengths-based and non-judgmental approach, Wellness Coaches support employees with identification and implementation of specific goals related to physical, social, mental, emotional or relational wellness.
