Learn more about Disability Justice:
-
Disability Justice is a framework that sees inherent value in all bodies.
-
The concept began in 2005 by disabled activists of colour, originally queer women of colour Patty Berne, Mia Mingus, and Stacey Milbern, to be joined by Leroy Moore, Eli Clare and Sebastian Margaret.
-
The framework of Disability Justice was developed from conversations and experiences of the lack of addressing ableism within other movements.
-
It challenges the idea that our worth is determined by our ability to perform or produce in our society
-
Disability justice holds that forms of oppression cannot be separated from each other.
-
There are 10 Principles of Disability Justice. Please see the attached document to learn more about each of these principles.
