Shiva represents both feminine and masculine sides, as well as light and dark forces. The colors and Shades in the painting highlight this harmony.

Shiva's dance is like a cosmic rhythm, where creation and destruction unite gracefully. The colors reflect the mix of light and dark, while the shades show the balance between Shiva's feminine and masculine aspects.

This painting is an invitation to think about how everything in the universe is connected. Shiva reminds us of the beauty in the balance of opposing things. It's a simple exploration of the idea that in life's dance, there's a deeper unity – the truth that Shiva represents.

Specifically, our emotions. These 4 parts are all different from one another. The top right, normal, is what we want people to see, the look and feel of being “normal” in order for people to see we are like them.

The top left, negative black and white, represents the twisted and sinister thoughts we think about ourselves and each other. We tend to feel shame with this part of ourselves. For example, the thought and act of getting revenge when we get hurt by someone. Although, this is completely natural, the repercussion of regret comes, when our morals come along. But it arrives too late.

The bottom left, black and white, represents our deep inner feelings of wanting others to see our true selves, but we know deep down, it is clear as day that we should not do it because one is a good though and the other is a bad one. Which is why it is polar opposite of each other, hence black and white.

The bottom right, negative, describes the emotion anxiety and depression. This part is probably the worst disease anyone can have. We have no control over this and there is no permanent solution. Anyone can get this, for example, getting it easy from a simple heartbreak to a traumatic experience.

Although all 4 parts have a negative influence to everyone, this is just a part of having a conscience, some things are a way to help us cope our emotions, like a defensive mechanism. And the other is just plain bad. We are all different in a way and because of it, there is no such thing as being “normal”. Just be who you are and be happy, even if everyone sees you being weird, because I know they are too.

The idea was to create a design that embodied the feeling of a fractured memory. Using the locker with a Polaroid image on it, the idea was to evoke memories of the past both represented by a locker from school and a Polaroid. Also, I chose to have multiple skulls within the polaroid to represent the high emotion of dissociation. Each skull represents a memory, yet the over-exposure effect within the period shows that the memories are fragmented and lack coherence and context, which is what a fragmented memory is. The dirty, grungy feel also shows that era I want to recreate, but it also shows that when looking back into memories they are often disported by imperfections of the reality of the events that actually happened. 2023 Lucas Daniele N01627833 graphic design North Email 24-02-2024

But how will the object feel after being abandoned for so long? Probably hatred. Wasting its existence in hate and suffering, forever in entropy as it cannot die nor can it live regularly. It will suffer until its body decay, down to one and zero. This work seeks to examine the relationship between us and the objects that were long gone from our mind. 2024 Khiem Nguyen N01661791 Visual and Digital Art Lakeshore Faculty/Staff, Other 24-02-2024
