I wanted to take the chance to draw one of my original characters in those styles because I typically liked to imagine what it'd be like if I put that character in those shows/games. The artstyles all had some hidden meaning to me and the reason I picked certain styles was because they all had a special meaning to me.

I took all the anime/game logos from the internet but the art/character is all my own.

Danganronpa - One of the first games I ever watched. I consider it my favourite thing to watch when I'm down which is ironic considering the premise. However, this show is one of the shows that give me strength to move on in tough times.
Kimetsu No Yaiba/Demon Slayer - I got into the show that year. This show was the reason I met my best friend who's like a sister to me. I feel extremely drawn to certain characters in the show such as Kanao Tsuyuri and I knew the eye style was going to be inspired by her (as kny/demon slayer has many unique eye styles)
Haikyuu - One of my favourite animes of all time that taught me not to give up. The artstyle feels simple but I found it rather complicated to replicate with the character I chose to draw. The show is more realistic compared to the others and that meant I had to alter the colors a little. I had fun shading with this style and it is one of the only shows I'll recommend others to watch with full confidence.
Boku no Hero Academia/My Hero Academia - I used to be a big fan of this show at the time and I wanted to try drawing in this unique artsyle. I made friends with kind people in the fandom and wanted to showcase that.
Little Witch Academia - I wasn't sure what I was going to include here but I saw a video that talked about how the way LWA compares old magic and new magic is similar to how artists today have to face the coming of new types of art with the existence with older ones. The hopeful protagonist, Akko, was the reason I wanted to pursue a more art driven career and I owe it to her that I am here.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica/Madoka Magica - One of the read animes I watched. I read the manga at first but then I watched the anime. As depressing as the show is, I loved the characterization and the meaning of hope that was portrayed in the darkness. This artstyle was particularly fun because of the different coloured outlines and pastel colors I needed to use.
Sailor Moon - Sailor Moon was the reason I got into anime. I know that the anime is old and the colours can be displeasing nowadays but older 90's animes have a special place in my heart. Sailor moon stands alongside Kodocha, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Angelic Layer as one of my favourites. I love the way eyes used to be drawn then and aimed for something like that.
Show By Rock - Also called SB69 (a now no longer functioning game) was the second anime I ever saw. The music and the sanrio version of the characters were adorable and I loved the plot and friendship of the characters. I own this anime on a dvd and because of the ads on it, I was introduced to another anime I love: Akagami no Shirayuki-hime/Snow White with the Red Hair. The artstyle always entranced me and I found it cute which was another factor to including it. The happiness I felt when watching the show was phenomenal. I almost wish I drew the 3d version of their sanrio forms looking back on it, however the eyes were and still are everything to me when looking at this piece.
Fairy Tail - Also introduced to me by Show by Rock, Fairy Tail is one of the 3rd animes I ever saw. Looking back on it, I can say it's definitely not as good as when I first saw it. However, I can say with full confidence that it helped me become who I am today. I know that my friends are always going to be like family I choose, and that blood doesn't affect what the definition of family is.

Duality is a concept surrounding the battle and struggle with mental illness and inner demons. I’ve personally struggled with both my whole life and had to find a balance between a state of neutrality and giving into those darker thoughts. The face is split into two to show connectivity and two halves of a whole but with differences. The piece explores while something may look put together and normal enough on the front, in the back or side may be lingering darkness under the surface. I enjoy working a lot with the female figure and the female body but I had yet to do many pieces with the female face in a black and white tattoo inspired style. Between the split in the heads is a large black and white smoke cloud and black tendrils showing the two pieces are connected by a mutual sticky, black darkness. 2023 Victoria Meogrossi Visual and Digital Arts Lakeshore Faculty/Staff 07-03-2022 First Place

The idea that such a classic story can be retold and reborn through the eyes of many is what brought this painting and concept to life. 2023 Vanessa Broomfield-Bryce Graphic Design North Social Media, Email 07-03-2022

I grew up on Beauty and The Beast as it was one of my favourite movies growing up, and my interest in the movie came from both main characters being imperfect and flawed yet still strong. I wanted to take the iconic Beast and give him a new spin with a snake. I chose the snake because a snake is known for being ferocious, and imtimidating. Snakes also have a bad reputation due to misconceptions leading to many avoiding them. Due to this, I believe the snake would be the best representation of the Beast. Further, to push the symbolism and nods to the movie; the roses symbolize Belle but also the iconic rose that signals the Beast's impending doom looming ever closer to a permanent reality. 2023 Victoria Meogrossi Visual and Digital Arts Lakeshore Faculty/Staff 07-03-2022

I wanted to explore this theme, to capture the feeling of being awake whilst feeling like your mind and body is shutting down or very sleep deprived. Due to the fact that I struggle with acute insomnia, due to irregular sleep schedules. With this portrait I’m able to express what going to sleep everyday feels like for me. 2022 Ariel Lewis Visual and Digital Arts Lakeshore Word of Mouth 07-03-2022

Many of us are at the point of ignoring the strangeness, awfulness and devastation these last few years have bestowed on us, especially in the last twelve months. This painting plays on the ideas of exhaustion, being oblivious to what's going on around us, and our dependence on various coping mechanisms. A series of events revolving around family, friends, as well as my own mental health had broke me down to become more introspective than I have ever been. Because of this, I wanted to take a simple, yet personal photo to end off the year. I was partially inspired by the cover for Frank Ocean's 2016 album Blonde, though there are many differences between that cover and mine. It was taken in one shot, and I was really surprised how well it turned out. It has since become one of my favourite images I've ever taken.

The name of the shot is taken from a track from Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly, entitled Mortal Man.

The space beneath the bridge was both eerie and fascinating, with an atmosphere that was both intimidating and alluring. The weight of history and mystery seemed to rest heavily upon this space.

It was then that I knew I had to capture this moment with my camera. The darkness and the shadows created by the bridge's arches played with my mind and invoked an emotion within me that I couldn't shake. As I focused my lens on the scene before me, I felt the weight of the darkness seep into my bones, compelling me to capture it forever.

To add an extra layer of intrigue and depth to the photo, I decided to shoot it on expired medium format film. I was drawn to the unpredictability and unique quality of the film, knowing that it would add an extra element of mystery to the already atmospheric scene.
