We often walk together in this cemetary over the holidays, and we thought it would be the perfect place to practice taking portraits on film. It then stared to take shape into something that is filled with personal moments from my life. Embedded within tells many different stories from those of love to pain and everything in between, all while building these moments around the human anatomy, maybe me subconsciously linking these stories to all of us as humans, experiencing life from our own perspectives yet being able to come together to share, live and love and to create. 629 Fri, 03/10/2023 - 00:30 Anonymous 142.214.240.6 Social pressure faced by women in 60s Painting Acrylic Paint 20 x 30 Original Piece I love the movie <<In the Mood for Love>>, which is a story based on 1960s in Hong Kong, where women faced huge social pressure on their outfits, freedom and life decisions. Married women felt pressured from gossips in neighbourhood. They were always required to dress in tight and inconvenient cheongsam.
In the movie, the main character Li-zhen was asked “If I had a spare ferry ticket, would you follow me?” but she rejected because of the social pressure.
I created this imaginary scene that Li-zhen rejected the “invitation” but she showed up at the pier.

However, when everyone enjoys art it becomes a regular house activity. An 8-person collaboration explored the idea of ocean meeting space, chosen by pulling words out of a hat. Overall, the painting encompasses many creatures, jokes, connections and ideas. I always wanted create one of the these paintings.

While digital photography appears to be the mainstream form of photography nowadays, it was an enjoyable and special experience to create a monochromatic picture by means of cyanotype process with a digital negative. What I love about it is that it combined an alternate process of photo printing technique invented almost 200 years ago with modern digital photography. This image's inspiration came from the fact that we are all on one journey or the other. We are all like pirates sailing our boats across the ocean of life. Some journeys are well planned and would lead to victory, some not so much. We might find treasures at the end of our journey, or we might end up discovering we were the treasure all along.
