Not sure what to do next? Follow Steps 1 to 10 to navigate the admission process. From finding your dream program to your first day in class, this road map will ensure that you get everything done on time.

Step 1: Research Programs and Admissions Requirements

Not Sure What You Want to Study? Find Your Match!

Use Humber’s online career finder tool to help you explore which program may be best suited for you.

    Research Programs of Interest

Once you have some programs in mind, you can research them on Humber's program pages.

    Visit Us In-Person

Your research isn't complete until you've been on campus. Join us for Open House to speak to Faculty and program representatives or book a campus tour at our North or Lakeshore campuses.

Can’t get here in person yet? You can take a virtual tour too.

Before applying, make sure your program of interest is still accepting applications. You can check availability by selecting Search by Availability on Humber’s program search or at ontariocolleges.ca.

    • If a program is open or waitlisted, you can still apply.
    • If it’s closed, we are no longer accepting applications for that intake.

    When to Apply

Apply as early as possible—programs can fill up quickly.

    • Applications open in October
    • Offers for most programs begin going out as early as November 1

    Equal Consideration Deadline

For highly competitive programs, Humber follows an equal consideration process. All applications received on or before February 1 will be given equal consideration. This means the date you apply does not impact your chances of admission, as long as your application is submitted by the deadline. No offers for highly competitive programs will be issued until after February 1.

If space is still available, you can still apply after February 1. However, applications submitted after this date will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis until the program closes.

To be considered for admission, Humber looks at your academic background, including your credentials, courses, and grades.

Before you apply, make sure to carefully review the Admission Requirements. Each program has its own specific admission criteria. You can find these listed on the individual program pages on the Humber website. Search Programs

Some programs may also have additional requirements, such as portfolios, tests, or auditions, which are also used to demonstrate eligibility for admission.

*Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Humber's programs can be competitive, and the best-qualified applicants receive admission offers first.

Which type of applicant are you?

Understanding which type of applicant you are will help you determine the admission requirements that apply to you.

    Secondary School Applicant

You are considered a secondary school applicant if you are currently enrolled in high school or have graduated from high school and have not attended any post-secondary education. Humber will use your high school courses and grades to determine if you meet the admission requirements for your program.

If currently enrolled in Grade 12, your Grade 11 marks will be used to calculate admission eligibility. Conditional offers may be made on Grade 11 marks, but you must submit a final transcript showing completion of Grade 12 courses before classes at Humber begin.

    College or University Transfer Applicant

You are considered a college or university transfer applicant if you have completed some or all of a post-secondary level credential. Humber will assess your post-secondary courses and grades to determine admission eligibility. If the requirements are not met at the post-secondary level, your high school courses may also be reviewed.

If you are applying to a bachelor’s degree program, your post-secondary GPA is a key factor in the admission decision.

Bonus: Already completed some courses? If you're admitted, you may be eligible for Transfer Credits to fast-track your studies!

*Only courses and grades from accredited institutions are accepted. Most private and career colleges do not meet Humber’s admission requirements and typically do not qualify for transfer credit.

    Mature Applicant

You are considered a mature applicant if you have not completed high school or postsecondary studies and will be:

    • 19 years of age or older by the start of classes (for diploma or certificate programs), or
    • 21 years of age or older (for bachelor’s degree programs).

Mature applicants may be invited to complete admissions testing to demonstrate eligibility; however, this depends on the competitiveness of the program and the type of credential.

For degree programs, mature applicants must meet specific U-level high school course requirements. Admission testing cannot be used to satisfy these requirements. If you do not meet academic requirements, there are adult learning options available. We recommend contacting Admissions for further guidance and support.

Note: Age is not the determining factor in identifying your applicant type.

If you graduated from high school—even many years ago—and have not attended college or university, you are considered a secondary school applicant, not a mature applicant.

    Applicants Outside of Ontario

Applicants that have attended secondary school outside Ontario must prove that his or her educational standing is equivalent to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

For all Canadian provinces or territories, successful completion of a Grade 12 diploma is required. For the province of Quebec, Secondary V is required.

Canadians or Residents with International Education

If you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a Protected Person who completed your education outside of Canada, you will need to submit a credential evaluation as part of your application.

The type of assessment you need depends on the level of education you completed and the program you’re applying to.

If You Completed High School Outside Canada

    Recommended Service:

ICAS – International Credential Assessment Service of Canada

    Why ICAS?

    • Provides course-by-course evaluations for international high school transcripts.
    • Can also evaluate college or university transcripts, if applicable.
    • Widely accepted by Canadian colleges and universities.
    • Anticipate longer processing times, so apply early.

If You Completed College or University Outside Canada

    Recommended Service:

    WES - World Education Services

    Why WES?

    • Specializes in evaluating international college and university transcripts.
    • Widely accepted by Canadian colleges and universities.
    • Offers quicker turnaround times

    Which WES evaluation to choose?

    • Course-by-course assessment: Typically required for admission into diploma or degree programs.
    • General (document-by-document) assessment: Often used for post-graduate programs that only require proof of diploma or degree.

Important Note: WES does not evaluate individual high school courses. If your post-secondary education does not meet the admission requirements but your high school courses do, you may need to request a course-by-course evaluation from ICAS instead.

In most cases, additional information or documents may be needed before an admission decision can be made. The sooner you fulfill these requirements, the sooner your application can be reviewed.

How to check for missing requirements:

        • Log in to the Applicant Portal
        • Click Actions
        • Click View Applications
        • Under Application Details click View Details

        Common missing requirements include:

        Academic Requirements

If you're missing a required course, grade, GPA, or credential, it will appear on your Applicant Portal under Program Choice Details and Checklist.

You may need to submit a final transcript showing successful completion.  If you have not yet completed the requirement, or are unsure how to meet it, please contact the Admissions Office for guidance on your next steps.

        Transcripts

An official transcript is required with your application. If your transcript includes courses in progress or midterm grades, you may be asked to submit an updated transcript once all courses are completed and final grades are available.

        ICASWES

        English Language Proficiency

All applicants must meet Humber’s English Proficiency Requirements. Please review the policy carefully to ensure you meet the English requirements for admission. You may be required to submit proof of English language proficiency through standardized testing.

        Additional Requirements

Certain Humber programs have additional requirements that are non-academic, such as portfolios, resumes, tests, auditions etc., which are used to demonstrate eligibility for admission. To determine if your program has additional requirements, log in to your Applicant Portal and review your Program Choice Details and Checklist. Be sure to note the specific details of the requirements you need to fulfill, such as submission guidelines and deadlines.

Note: Some programs may also have “Post-Admission Requirements”. Once a student has been accepted to a program, and has confirmed their offer, they may have to complete further program-related requirements. These could include requirements such as immunization records or a vulnerable sector check. For detailed information, refer to the specific program page.

        Admission Testing for Mature Students

As a mature applicant, you may be invited to complete admission testing to help determine your eligibility. Whether or not testing is required depends on the competitiveness of the program and the type of credential you are applying for.

Please note: For degree programs, mature applicants must meet specific U-level high school course requirements. Admission testing cannot be used to satisfy these requirements.

If your application requires admission testing, you’ll find the details and be able to register directly in your Applicant Portal. Both online and in-person (on-campus) testing options are available. Please note that additional fees may apply.

          Step 5: Confirm Your Offer

Humber makes several types of offers. Read your offer letter carefully to understand which type of offer you have received.

            Offer

Congratulations! You’ve met all the requirements and are accepted into the program. All that’s left to do is confirm on Ontario Colleges and pay your deposit to secure your spot.

            That’s it — you’re in!

            Conditional Offer

Congratulations! You’ve received a conditional offer of admission. This means you may accept the offer and pay your deposit as you would with a regular offer.

To keep your spot in the program, you’ll need to meet specific conditions before the first day of class.

            These conditions may include:

            • Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent)
            • Achieving final grades in specific courses at a required level
            • Completion of a college diploma or university degree

You’ll find the exact details of your conditional offer in your Applicant Portal. Please review them carefully and complete all requirements on time to secure your spot in the program.

Humber will verify that you have met your outstanding conditions before classes start.

Once you have completed the outstanding conditions, you will need to send an official transcript.

If you are a current Ontario secondary school student, your final transcript will be sent to us electronically and your final grades will be used to meet outstanding conditions.

For all other applicants, please review instructions on how to send transcripts via Ontario Colleges.

Alternatively, you can formally request that your school send official electronic copy directly to Humber.

            Alternate Offer

Receiving an alternate offer means you didn’t meet the admission requirements for your original program choice, but you received an offer of admission for a related program. Your offer letter will include more information. Some alternate offers may be conditional.

            Waitlist

When there are more qualified applicants than available seats, a waitlist is created. Being on the waitlist means you meet the admission requirements, but the program is currently full.

To remain on the waitlist, you must confirm your interest by the deadline. If we do not receive a response, your spot on the waitlist will be released, and you will no longer be considered for admission to the program.

To accept or decline your spot on the waitlist:

            1. Log in to the Applicant Portal
            2. Under Submitted Applications, click Actions
            3. Select View Applicant
            4. Under decision status, click on Active on the waitlist
            5. Choose to Accept or Decline your spot on the waitlist.

Waitlists are maintained until the fifth day of classes. If space becomes available, Humber will contact you immediately. Please ensure your contact information is up to date and check your Applicant Portal regularly for updates.

Some programs are highly competitive, and the waitlist may not move. We recommend having a backup plan, such as applying to the same program in a future term (Winter/Spring), or exploring a related program that can still help you build valuable skills and reach your career goals.

Confirming your offer is an exciting step in your journey, but if you’ve applied to more than one program, you might be wondering how accepting one offer could impact your chances with others.

Here's a breakdown of common scenarios:

Scenario 1 - Multiple Offers Simultaneously

If you receive multiple offers at the same time, accepting one will automatically cancel the others.

Scenario 2 - Accepting an Offer and Waiting on Others

You can accept an offer even if you’re still waiting for decisions from other programs. If you later receive an offer you prefer, you can accept it — your previous acceptance will be automatically canceled.

Scenario 3 - Waitlisted and Receiving an Offer

If you're on a waitlist for one program and receive an offer from another program, you can accept the offer without affecting your waitlist status. If you are later offered a spot on the waitlisted program, you can switch and the offer from the other program will be canceled.

We’re so happy you have decided to accept your offer of admission! We can’t wait to welcome you to the Humber community.

            Confirm Your Offer

            1. Go to ontariocolleges.ca.
            2. Log into your ontariocolleges.ca account.
            3. Click on "View Offers" to see your offer(s) of admission.
            4. Select the offer of admission you wish to accept.
            5. Click "Confirm".

Ontario Colleges will automatically notify Humber of your decision so we can throw some confetti to celebrate and get you started on your next steps right away.

Once you have confirmed your offer, you will receive an email with login credentials to the MyHumber student portal. This is where you will pay fees, register for classes, track your academic progress and more.

You can continue to review your application(s) at any time by logging in to your Applicant Portal.

            Search and Transfer Your Credits

If you’ve completed courses from another post-secondary institution, you may be eligible for Humber transfer credits.

Get Credit for Work or Life Experience

You may be eligible for credit based on formal, informal, and experiential learning, such as on-the-job training, non-credit courses, military service, volunteer work, and more.

If your offer has been deactivated or has expired, and the program is still open for applications, you may be able to have it reactivated. Please contact the Admissions Department to inquire about availability and next steps.

Step 6: Pay Your Tuition Deposit

Don't lose your seat! You need to pay a mandatory tuition deposit by the tuition deposit deadline to maintain a seat in your program. Your tuition deposit will be applied toward the balance of your first semester tuition fees.

When you accept your offer of admission, you will receive a username and password to log in to your MyHumber student portal. All deposit and fee payments will be processed through your MyHumber student account.

A reminder that if you have applied for OSAP or other funding, you must still pay the $250 tuition deposit. Anticipated funding cannot be used to pay the tuition deposit.

Step 7: Pay Your Tuition Balance

Until you pay your deposit and your tuition balance is posted to your student account, you can prepare to pay by reviewing the tuition fees by semester on the program page under "Fees & Financial Aid"

You will need to pay the remaining balance of tuition fees before you can register for classes.

Various options are available to pay or arrange to pay the balance of tuition fees including OSAP funding and a payment plan option to pay your balance in instalments. Review what is available and pick the option that is right for you.

                Step 8: Register for Classes

One of the most exciting moments as a student is when you create your timetable and see your daily schedule for your first semester.

Registration for your program will open as of a specific date and time. You can find this information a minimum of two weeks before registration begins for your term. You will register for classes through your MyHumber account after you’ve paid or arranged to pay the balance of your tuition fees in full.

You will find all the steps you need to enroll in your classes on the Registration Road Map.

                  Step 9: Starting at Humber

Kick off your journey at Humber by participating in Orientation including Meet Your Faculty sessions, Welcome Events, and more. Get ready to meet other students, win some amazing prizes and have a lot of fun!

ONECard will be your official virtual identification, and it will grant you access to campus services. You can also use it as a payment method to purchase products and services on campus.

After you register for classes, go ahead and download the app and add your photo so you can start accessing services at Humber.

Locker rentals are available to students attending a full-time program at Humber. They are available for daytime and overnight storage and sold on an academic year basis. Lockers are assigned in specific areas, predetermined by program requirements and the general location of program classrooms. You can rent a locker through your MyHumber student account.

If you need a place to park, there are daily as well as permit options available.

Find all the important dates you need throughout the school year. The Academic Calendar highlights fees, due dates, exam week, public holidays and more.

Know and understand the academic policies and procedures you must follow while studying at Humber.
