Entrepreneurship Training Program

Do you have a few business ideas or simply a curiosity about entrepreneurship? Whether you're deciding which idea has the most potential or looking to acquire valuable entrepreneurial knowledge and skills for your career, the Longo Family Be Your Own Boss workshop is ideal for you.

Join the Longo Family Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) series for a comprehensive 7-week workshop designed to help you refine and develop a business idea into a viable opportunity. The BYOB series will guide you through identifying problems to solve, understanding who benefits from your idea, evaluating its feasibility as a business, and much more.

This program is perfect for anyone eager to learn and apply tools for assessing which ideas have the potential to address problems and transform into successful business ventures. By attending at least 5 of the 7 workshops, you'll qualify to compete in the Longo Family BYOB Video Pitch Competition for a chance to win a share of $40,000.

This program is for:

  • Current Humber and Guelph-Humber Students can attend all workshops in person for free and can participate in the video pitch competition if they meet the eligibility requirements.
  • Humber and Guelph-Humber Alumni can attend all workshops in person for free.
  • Community Members can attend all workshops in person for a fee of $70.
  • High School Students can participate in the Longo Family BYOB High School program and competition. For more information, please click here.

The Longo Family BYOB Video Pitch Competition offers an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their innovative ideas and compete for a share of $40,000 in funding. Current students from Humber and Guelph-Humber who attend at least 5 out of 7 Longo Family BYOB Workshops are eligible to participate. To enter, simply submit a video pitch presenting your idea. For further details about the competition, including guidelines and deadlines, please visit the provided link.

The sessions are held in person in the fall and winter semesters at Humber North and Lakeshore Campuses.

Is it free?

The sessions are free for Current Humber and Guelph-Humber Students and Alumni. For Community members to access the full workshop series, it is $70.

Can I attend virtually?

The Longo Family BYOB sessions are conducted in-person to provide an enriched and interactive learning experience.

Can international students participate in this program?

Yes, international students can participate in this program.
