Applications Now Open for The Cultivate Fund

Humber Applied Resarch & Innovation is now accepting applications for the Cultivate Fund. The Cultivate Fund supports Humber faculty and staff engaged in original, externally-focused research and innovation by providing modest amounts of funding for strategic research or innovation initiatives involving an industry, community or academic partner. Application Deadline: February 6, 2017 at noon Available Funding: up to $20,000 per project  Funding Period: up to 12 months (May 1, 2017 - April 30, 2018)

Scholarly Writing Boot Camp - Call for Applications

The CTL is excited to announce a call for applications for the next Scholarly Writing Boot Camp, taking place on February 22-24, 2017. The Boot Camp is a chance to make a commitment to get a piece of scholarly writing done, by dedicating a consolidated period of time to writing in a quiet group retreat context. Food and accommodations will be provided for the duration of the retreat. Spaces are limited! See the attached pdf file for more information and for the application.

Humber’s AODA Customer Service Standards Training Has Been Revised

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) underwent recent changes as of July 1, 2016. As a result, Humber was required to update its training on the Customer Service Standards. The Centre is happy to report that the modules for faculty, administrative and support staff have all been updated and are now available to you for completion.

Please note: All employees who have completed the Customer Service Standards online training before January, 2016 are required to complete the revised Customer Service Standards module that can be accessed at:

Introduction of the Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC)

Humber has been integrating "Sustainability into Everything we do" for many years now.  We have been named one of Canada's Greenest Employers 2016, a Smart Commute Gold Workplace two years in a row (2015 & 2016), and just recently earned a second Silver level rating from the Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) put on by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

Global Corporate Challenge - What Happens After the 100 Day Journey?

As the 100 Day Journey draws to a close, it’s important to reflect on how far we’ve come. Each participant has different reasons for having participated in the GCC, ranging from personal health goals, to increased engagement, or a desire to collaborate with colleagues.  Humber had over 260 employees participate and together we walked, biked, and swam a total of 48,090 kilometers, which equates to walking around the world 1.2 times.
