Please review these important points about the Winter 2023 Student Feedback Questionnaires (SFQs).

SFQs will launch around the 70 per cent mark in the semester (week 10 in a 14-week course), and will be available for students right up to the second last week of class.

Please note these three important pieces of information:

  1. New this semester: Instructors are asked to schedule 20 minutes of in-class time when students will complete the SFQ.
  2. Get ready -- About 7 days before SFQs launch, instructors will get an email with the option to add up to three custom questions to the SFQ.
  3. Important: Once SFQs are pushed to Blackboard, instructors must enable the SFQ in Blackboard following this process:
  • Select "Books & Tools" (in Details & Actions, left course content menu)
  • Click "+" next to "Student Feedback Questionnaire"
  • Once added to the course content, make the SFQ visible for students

The Humber College and University of Guelph-Humber community is saddened to learn of the massive earthquake and aftershocks that devastated Turkey and Syria on February 6. The death and destruction caused by the earthquake is not confined to Turkey and Syria. Family, friends and relatives in our community and city are also experiencing loss and trauma as a result of the death and destruction caused by the earthquake.

While the impacts of this natural disaster are still unfolding and rescue efforts continue, our collective thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones or who are anxiously awaiting news of the safety of loved ones. We are here to provide support to students and staff who may need assistance during this difficult time.

An email with a list of supports was sent to students earlier today. At times like this, there is a role we can all play in supporting students who are impacted. This might take the form of academic flexibility or a reminder of the range of resources available.

Thank you for supporting our students and each other during this time.

Dear Humber Community,

I’m writing today to share that Geneva Gillis, assistant curator with the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre, is leaving Humber College on February 17, 2023. Geneva will be moving on to the role of Heritage Interpreter - Battlefield House Museum and Park National Historic Site with the City of Hamilton.

Geneva joined the Interpretive Centre in December of 2021 and supported our online work, transition back to in person operations, and return to regular operations with grace and care over the past year. She contributed much to relationship and community development and helped grow our operations through exhibitions, art shows, tours, and partnerships. Geneva has most certainly left her mark and shared her passion for community heritage and local history, and we wish her the absolute best in her future endeavors.

Please join in me in sharing our most heartfelt congratulations to Geneva (geneva.gillis@humber.ca).

With kindness,

Nadine Finlay (she/her)
