The Math & Writing Centre is pleased to present free services for all Humber and Guelph-Humber English language learners. Please let students know these services are available to them:

Conversation Circles

Students can join a tutor and several English language learners for one hour to practice conversation and listening and speaking skills.

Summer 2023 Schedule:

• Lakeshore Campus, room F201: Tuesdays 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• North Campus, LRC third floor: Thursdays 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Online: Fridays 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  For the online Conversation Circles session, students can join via Microsoft Teams at the time of the session.

Conversation 1-on-1 Sessions - Students can book an appointment with a tutor to talk one on one for 30 minutes or one hour to practice speaking, to go over readings, to review Ted Talks and much more.

• Students can log in with their Humber credentials in our booking system, select as course “Conversation One on One”, select a tutor and time and book the session.

Reading Circles

Students can join a tutor and several English language learners for one hour to practice reading comprehension and analysis as well as building vocabulary and general fluency.

Summer 2023 Schedule:

• Lakeshore Campus, room F201: Thursdays 1 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• North Campus, LRC third floor: Mondays 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.                    
• Online: Fridays 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
  For the online Reading Circles session, students can join via Microsoft Teams at the time of the session.

The deadline to apply to be a 2023 GAP scholarship recipient is June 9, 2023. 

Humber College has a Professional Development Policy provision that awards scholarships to employees seeking to advance their education through discipline-specific post-secondary degrees, Master or Doctoral degrees at an accredited post-secondary institution. 

All full-time academic, support, and admin employees who have completed their probationary period are eligible to apply. Funding under this program is for tuition fees, for a maximum of four (4) years for each individual program up to a maximum of five thousand dollars ($5,000) per fiscal year.

Do you have a research project that needs to be completed? Are you looking for someone who can assist you with:

• Data collection, research design, information retrieval, and survey design
• Designing and implementing research projects for international or domestic populations
• Qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis and interpretation
• Project management, proposal writing, and literature reviews
• Students are knowledgeable with SPSS, Excel, and data visualization tools

Our highly qualified research analyst graduate students are available full-time for 12 weeks (flexible end and start dates) to assist you with your project.
