Self-Service Password Reset: How Does it Work?

The way Humber students, staff and faculty manage their passwords has changed. As of Monday, August 1, 2022 mypassword.humber.ca will be decommissioned. Users can utilize SSPR by visiting myaccount.humber.ca to change or reset their password.

Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) is a feature that enables users to reset their passwords without contacting ITS for help. Users can easily manage and recover their own passwords and continue working no matter where they are or time of day without the need to contact IT support.

The key benefits of enabling SSPR are:

  • It provides an intuitive one-time user registration process that allows users to reset passwords and unblock accounts on-demand from any device or location. SSPR allows users to get back to work faster and be more productive.
  • Self-service allows end users to reset their expired or non-expired passwords without contacting IT support.

Humber College and University of Guelph-Humber (Humber) know that the safety of our community is paramount to ensure our students and staff can study/work in the safest space possible. When incidents do occur, a quick, efficient, reliable response from our security staff is imperative to ensuring a quick resolution.  As part of its ongoing goal of continuous improvement, training and education, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is implementing an exercise program for security guards. The aim of the exercise program is to provide real-life scenarios to guards that allows them to practice their response to various scenarios in a safe, controlled setting.

The second of these “live” exercises will take place on July 27 and 28 at both the Lakeshore and North campuses. In an effort to minimize the impact on the campus community, exercises will take place at times when fewer people are expected to be on campus. Exercises will take place as follows:

  • Lakeshore Campus – July 27 between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. L building 2nd floor cafeteria and the entire first floor
  • North Campus – July 28 between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. LRC 3rd floor

Signage will be placed in the exercise area to identify that an exercise is taking place. Exercise participants will be identified by wearing orange vests that indicate “Exercise Participant” on the back. Any community members who may be in the area are asked to not interfere with the exercise activity.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Adnan Salam, Assistant Manager, Security Operations, North Campus at adnan.salam@humber.ca or Thomas Urbaniak, Assistant Manager, Security Operations, Lakeshore Campus at thomas.urbaniak@humber.ca.

The GH Biowall in the lobby of the GH building was the first large scale installation in Ontario, and remains one of the largest ever built. But at almost 20 years old, the wall needs extensive infrastructure refurbishment.

Work has commenced with the wall expected to be returned to its former beauty by November 2022.

Humber College has partnered with New Earth Solutions, an organization with extensive experience in biowall repairs, refurbishment and maintenance.

Major activities include:

  • removal of old plants and growing media
  • infrastructure repairs and upgrades including new ABS air plenum
  • installation of new plants (5,077 tropical plants consisting of over 15 species)

Once complete, the new biowall will occupy four storeys of wall space and will once again proudly grace over the University of Guelph-Humber atrium.

Stay tuned for updates.
