The Display Your Pride Contest Returns for Pride 2022

Humber 2SLGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group is proud to host the Display Your Pride Contest! Prizes will be awarded to the best display of Pride at Humber College.

This year’s theme is Pride is Political. Decorate your space in a way that acknowledges and celebrates the diverse histories, stories and political resistance of the 2SLGBTQIA+ movement and community.

What to do

Decorate your individual space to showcase the theme of the contest. Use images, show signs, or provide information about how the history of Pride has always been political. Spaces may include your work or study from home “office” space, balcony, backyard, or any other space you want to show off.

Creativity is strongly encouraged. We also encourage you to decorate your individual spaces through a sustainability lens.

Once you’ve created your display, take a photograph of it and submit it via the submission form below. Not a decorator? No problem! This year we will also be accepting original Zoom or MS Teams background designs.

The deadline for submissions is June 24, 2022.

Please join me in welcoming Kennisha Archer who will be working in the position of Analyst, Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion. Kennisha is a graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Social Work and she is currently pursuing a post-graduate certificate in Human Resources. Her background includes five years in youth-centered agencies with a focus on education, homelessness, crisis management, sexual health and gender-based violence. Operating from a trauma-informed, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive framework, Kennisha uses these skills to strive toward cultivating spaces focused on learning, unlearning, and self-exploration. She believes being an advocate for change means unapologetic, bold, and integrity-based actions that prioritize the needs of the community. In her spare time, Kennisha can be found doing yoga, writing film reviews, and watching an unhealthy amount of reality TV.

Kennisha starts her position on July 4, 2022 and will report to the Manager, Education & Training, Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion.

Kind regards,

Nancy Simms

Dear Humber colleagues,

I am pleased to share some exciting news about the evolution of Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) at Humber. What many of you had known as Corporate Training Solutions (CTS) has moved to CPL Central! This integration positions CPL Central to provide higher quality and more cohesive non-post-secondary up-skilling and re-skilling initiatives to our learners which now include corporate, non-profit, and government partners.

This shift will help us stay at the forefront of responding to labour market demands while making it easier for all learners to access our full range of programs. While some positions have changed with this integration, our core mission of bringing together industry connections, expert faculty, advanced methodologies, and state-of-the-art learning resources from across the College, remains the same. Working with our faculty and business unit partners, we continue to support lifelong learning in a customized and responsive way.

If you are interested in working with a particular corporate client, please let us know. We are happy to leverage our extensive experience in developing and delivering customized programs, certifications (including micro-credentials), and support services to address any organization’s needs.

Thank you for your support in helping us meet the goals and objectives of our 3,700+ continuing professional learners. Want more information on CPL? Please see our new organizational chart attached. For further inquiries, please contact me directly at frank.cappadocia@humber.ca.

Best regards,

Frank Cappadocia

The Journal of Innovation in Polytechnic Education (JIPE) website on a laptop screen

To our research and innovation community,

The Journal of Innovation in Polytechnic Education (JIPE), Humber Press, Office of Research & Innovation (ORI), has compiled a comprehensive and detailed JIPE Submissions Handbook which we have the pleasure of sharing widely with our research and innovation community. You may make submissions to JIPE.ca at any time.

Have you participated in or conducted a research/innovation study? Do you have research you want to share? Every research project, study or initiative is a journey. Researchers and innovators embark on this journey, and their work advances essential knowledge and changes the way we understand the world.

JIPE welcomes research stories and manuscripts from seasoned and emerging researchers from across the polytechnic and community college sectors, both within and outside Canada. Students/research assistants are also encouraged and invited to submit in collaboration with a faculty member/researcher.

JIPE publishes original research papers, review articles, brief reports, book reviews and our “micro-dissemination” options: innovation spotlights and more.

As part of Humber’s sustainability plan, JIPE will only be published electronically to reduce paper consumption. JIPE is an online, open-access journal for double-blind peer-reviewed submissions/manuscripts that mobilize knowledge and insights generated by the global polytechnic community. The articles published in this open journal are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-No Derivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
