Launch Me workshops are designed to help students and alumni develop skills that will ultimately help take their business idea to the next level. The series consists of three sections including Lean Canvas, Business Plan Development, and Business Pitch training.

All workshops are led by Kevin Smith, an entrepreneur, an expert in start ups. These workshops will give you the tools and skills you need to enter and excel in the competition. This year, the Launch Me competition has increased its seed funding pool to $20,000!! Tell your students!

STAR! (Special Thanks and Recognition). Are you seeing STARS around Humber? Have you thanked someone lately?

Everyone likes to feel valued and appreciated for their contribution at work. And now, saying "thanks" to a colleague is as easy as sending an eCard. The STAR program has a variety of cards you can send including: ethanks; anniversary; congratulatory; customer service; holiday cheer; birthday; retirement; etc.

Messages appear on the Wall of Fame, our social sharing billboard showcasing recent Humber STARS. (Note: employees have the option to not have their "STARS" appear on the Wall of Fame.)

To send a STAR, go to appreciatehub.com/humberstar. Login using your Humber/HCNet username. If it is your first time logging on to the site, the temporary password is Humber123. You will then be able to change your password.

If you have any comments or questions about this program, please email humberstar@humber.ca.

I am proud to announce the OTA/PTA program was granted accreditation until November 30, 2024.

The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) and Physiotherapist Assistant Program (PTA) at Humber has been accredited by the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant Education Accreditation Program (OTA & PTA EAP) in collaboration with Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC) and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).

These fantastic results are attributed to the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence of the faculty, staff and administration involved in the program, and I offer my sincere thanks for a job well done.

Inclusive Curricular Design encompasses the key elements of multiple teaching and learning approaches to offer a robust and accessible learning experience for all students. The principles of inclusive curricular design focus on a proactive rather than reactive approach to course design and are founded in equity, collaboration, flexibility and accountability. This Certificate addresses the idea that students are not meant to fit into a traditional “one-size-fits-all” model of education and that applying the principles of inclusive design will ensure that the range of student diversities, abilities, and needs arebeing met through a number of teaching and learning strategies.

The Certificate is comprised of nine learning modules, a coaching session, and a final application activity. Upon successful completion of these components, participants receive a Certificate of Completion.

This Certificate has been accredited by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education(STLHE) - Educational Developers Caucus (EDC) of Canada to ensure quality in teaching and learning. For more information, please visit EDC Accreditation information.
